san diego school district got a BMP too.
the chief says not to worry because "it will be filled with teddy bears and first aid kits"
That's not good enough
aww. nevermind, they're being forced to return it after public outcry since it hit the news last week.
btw, the chiefs name is Rueben Littlejohn...cant make this shit up.
"There will be medical supplies in the vehicle. There will be teddy bears in the vehicle," Littlejohn said. "There will be trauma kits in the vehicle in the event any student is injured, and our officers are trained to give first aid and CPR."
Ironically (and I'm not making this up either) I'm traumatized by Teddy Bears. I had the chicken pox when I was really little and my grandpa got me this big bear that was taller than I was. Scared the shit out of me and apparently I ran away screaming.

Needs a "not the Onion" tag.

I don't know, I think they'd better keep them and also point them at every person they talk to, just in case. Officer safety, after all, is paramount.

It looks like the police have themselves an RV!
In all seriousness though, not only do you NEVER hear the tea party small government crowd, but they LOVE it.
Side note tea party mention. Up here in Boston, the subways now run adds for this gawdy small scale replica Boston tea party vessel that tourists can walk on to dump...something overboard in a shitty attempt at reenacting the event. Thing looks like a miniature golf course hole.
What stands out are fascist ads that would be too over the top for Starship Troopers. Giant towering tri corner hat militia man standing over a dictionary entry for "patriot" n. 1). A person who loves their country and defends it from enemies and traitors.
^never hear the tea party small government crowd protest things like this

I love the justification that these things are "free", somehow there would be no fuel or maintenance costs. In reality it would be a lot more like the episode of Reno 911 where they buy a Hummer.

While an absurd waste of money anyway, I guess I'll have to be THAT GUY (not That guy) and say that calling an MRAP a tank is being a little overdramatic.
