The movie is so dorky and hokey that a rifftrax of it might sound good but to me it's just reaching for low hanging fruit with a lot of jokes that don't even make sense.

I love low budget 80's fantasy movies because they usually play like somebody's D&D campaign put to film.

It's also why I like The Slayers so much.

There's also the Lodoss War OVAs - which are an AD&D campaign turned into anime. That's as awesome as it sounds. Nowadays more Japanese TRPGs are finally being translated into English, and that includes replays. It's a good time to be alive.

I like Ruin Explorers myself, but that was only based on a comic that ran in a tabletop RPG magazine.

I wish Rifftrax would take on some lesser-known fantasy movies, like the original Ator, the other Deathstalkers, and Yor, the Hunter From the Future (which stars Space Mutiny's Reb Brown).

I liked Ruin Explorers too. It's a shame there were only a few anime episodes.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-11-02

I still have my Ruin Explorers DVD from ADV.

There's also Ruin Explorers Special Plus by Kunihiko Tanaka. That could be good to read if you want some resolution to the story.
