As was pointed out elsewhere, I wouldn't assumed the most racist president award would go to one of the presidents that owned slaves.
Ben Stein is one of those people that makes me wish we had a mind-reading machine to see if they're dain brammaged, if they actually believe what they spew, or if this is just the only way they know how to earn a paycheck and get re-invited to talking head shows.
All he really has to do is think of shocking things to say that'll get him covered by at least Fox. I don't think he believes any of it and doesn't even care enough to be consistent from one "outrage" to the next. The dumber the better. It's a living I guess.
Gee, Ben Stein has never heard of the Southern Strategy! It shifted the Republican Party's allegiances by playing to racist white voters! This is especially odd because Stein was a speechwriter and lawyer for Nixon...who implemented the Southern Strategy! How strange!
I actually had some respect for him back in the Win Ben Stein's Money era. He's a smart guy. Which makes this and every other video I've seen of him recently very baffling.
He's not actually that smart. He's not an idiot, of course, and compared to the average man on the street, he's both fairly intelligent and well educated. But he's really little more than a former middling speech-writer with rich parents and good posture, and he is far better at playing an intellectual on TV than he is at being one in real life.
