Final Team Fantasy Fortress 2.
Five for evil, meh for creativity. Blizzard doesn't seem to have much in the way of original ideas going for it.
Fuck TF2, fuck your stupid hat collections and fuck you. FUCK IT. FUCK TF2.
This is probably shit but at least it's not TF2
yeah, just hold down RMB and run around, it's easy!
I like TF2. I have never played it, but I do know that it's basically just an excuse to post Pony SFM videos to Youtube, and that's OK by me!
It takes finesse and skill to properly play a pyro. You'll certainly never get the hang of it if you're too busy getting upset over hats.
he was probably a die-hard spy player until the pyro buff patch broke his will and mind.
Sanest Man Alive
on that note, I am disappointed by the lack of people on fire and flailing around in this video.

No new ideas. Not a single one.
The dialogue is laughably inept too:
"Time to reap."
"One shot, one kill."
It's like their boss encounter dialogue in WoW or something.
All that stuff reminded me of the Wildstar MMO clips that came out a while back.
On the bright side, I don't think the Chinese will be so hot to rip this game off as they were another team-based FPS.
there is some neat stuff in there!
it will probably be convoluted and impossible to balance.
this looks like the opposite if TF2. Complicated, forgettable, derivative design that dont develop character.
it will probably be very popular.
Yeah, but what about the shadow guy who does all the Gun Kata moves? Yes, there have been creepy shadow guys before. Yeah, there have been dudes who did Gun Kata moves before. But have you ever seen a character who is BOTH a creepy shadow guy AND does Gun Kata moves? Eh? Eh? I mean, you might have, but I can't think of any off-hand.
I shit you not, I read this earlier on reddit's gaming forum:
"'One shot, one kill...' I just got shivers."
People are idiots. This game is going to rake in millions.
To be fair, TF2 did eventually become complicated and forgettable.
They lost me on the sniper girl. Her name was "Widowmaker", yet they showed her shooting a female combatant...? Wouldn't that make her a Widowermaker? Or not even Not-a-Widowmaker, since presumably all of these characters are cool, young, and __unmarried__, except maybe for the dwarf, who is probably a middle-aged TFLer, I'd wager. And she only gets one shot and one kill? What, are we talking per spawn, or per match? Because if it were me, I'd want to get hundreds of shots and hundreds of kills! She must be camping in the worst spot ever. More like NOOBmaker, huh.
@Nominal: How is that? Seems like TF2 has always had a core game mechanic with tweaks here and there.
TF2 is not remotely "more complex." There are power-gamer retards who try to use the new pay-only gear in some specific way, but more often than not the classic style of play is where it's at.
Mann vs. Machine is awesome on the right servers.
Portal of Persia Fortress II!
the level design looks like the stuff done by render engine developers who aren't artists and are just trying to show off all the stuff their product can do
Jesus Christ this is derivative. It's like they just replaced the TF2 models with WoW models and didn't even bother changing the weapons.
Why didn't they go all the way with the magic steampunk dwarf shit and do like a magic-style TF2 with some sort of rune/casting system? Collect runes and use them to power your spells or some damn thing. You could get mana from shooting random monkeys or dickie dee guys or something.
blizzard's whole model is to suck up as many ideas as possible, chew out any flavor that would alienate anyone and spit them back out.
"Why didn't they go all the way with the magic steampunk dwarf shit and do like a magic-style TF2 with some sort of rune/casting system?"
This is actually worse, btw. I'd have chased you out of the brainstorming meeting with a hot poker if you volunteered this shitspeck.
Diablo and D2 were both fun games, and they directly inspired Borderlands. Just as Warcraft and Warcraft 2 were fun games (sort of; I personally couldn't get into the second one), and their success led in turn to all sorts of other, better series, like Red Alert.
Directly inspiring Borderlands is not a + in my mind. Diablo is great fun, but I think it's main selling point was having good graphics for the time. Everything about it had basically been done a decade earlier. I'm a sword of fargoal man myself.
Diablo is actually terrible, fyi.
So bad. And the gaming forums are just gushing about this.
The cinematic trailer is even more horrible - completely aping late 00's Dreamworks style:
At least someone finally added Threewave CTF's grappling hook back in. I missed that.
I still really really miss vanilla ctf on the Q2 single player levels. That was the most fun ever.
Q2 CTF was a pinnacle of distilled video game fun that I don't think we'll ever really see the likes of again.
I actually chilled with Zoid at a lan party and there are probably 4 or 5 people on earth who would be impressed with that.

Wait a minute, isn't that an old unreal tournament map?
No. Blizzard did it first.
You guys hate fun.
I like the idea of a game of WoW first person PVP. That's what this is. There's an iteration for every class.
Classes like Valve's Engineer.
They even lifted the crit mode after turret destruction that TF2 has with one of the engineer shotguns.
in this game, it won't be hats you collect, it'll be companion pets that follow you around. and either you wait for them to drop, or you can go online to the blizzard store to purchase your favorite WoW pets for each! and every holiday they'll post an extra special holiday themed pet for !!
if this game is successful, it will be due solely to brand name recognition.
@Solro. Where'd you get that from? The glowing bit is an ultimate ability. Even lists it on the webpage. Doesn't even add damage.
How ever, they did try to do a Pixar cinematic.
I do like some of the quirks they have added game play wise such as the flying and climbing walls, but I don't think they really add much strategy. With the way they got the classes separated into groups, most likely you'll just watch for them on the platforms that you can't reach.
However, they did give the medic the ability to boost a player's damage. So yeah, they did take that.
Aww fuck me, not Pixar, but I guess Disney's "Frozen" with face style on the kids.
Not only is this basically Team Fortress 2, but the art style seems insanely ripped off from the MMO shooter Firefall. (which I've been playing the last few months)

Why are any of your surprised Blizzard is unoriginal?
Innovation has never been Blizzard's thing. Refinement has. They didn't make the first MMO; they didn't even make the first fantasy MMO.
Their game has always been taking reasonably popular shit other people did first and freebasing it into an ultra-addictive concentrate.
I think this is the game where they'll lost their niche for make ultra addicting shit. The game play mechanics are really looking incredibly gimmicky and I would not be surprised in the least if it burned up into obscurity days after it's released.
This looks a lot like that other game
|Billy the Poet |
No, the ENGINEER is Scottish. It's completely different!
look at her butt as her goggles go on
I actually thought that was a joke until I saw the specific game play video for the character.
|Shoebox Joe |
Each time I look at the character line-up, I can't help but hope the design devs get fired. It's like they took what diversive elements they could find from Borderlands and in a moment of weakness, huffed gasoline to brave through the tension and say "it's done".
So its TF2 at 15 frames per second?
It's not the official channel. I don't know why a let's play channel has it up on their piece of youtube, but a link to official channel's video is in the annotations.
(Note: the video I linked to for what ever reason seems to be choppy as the video on this page. A video on a different character (Bastion) seemed to have a smoother playback.)
