The ambiguities were so subtle that I had to fly from Australia to Japan, pre-internet, just to see what happened next. Aussie censors were not big whodunnit fans. :(

I don't enjoy being scared that much anymore, death is a much less abstract concept, the gradual shift from slasher to torture films is more than I can take, but I still love horror movies because it's always been a place where an audacious independent film can make a real impression. Texas chainsaw massacre is definitely an example of that.
