For a little bit of evil, Peterson became kind of a megalomaniac in the PNW retail world (think the Mr. Show sketch about Fairsleys vs. Gibbons and you get the idea,) and it was pretty much his wife who saved his ass after the shit hit the fan and he filed for bankruptcy, many of the commercials mentioning that he was broke. I wish I could find some of those now.

But for Portal of Good, he was a really nice guy, and did things like serve free hot dogs and haircuts at his stores. I still have my Tom Peterson alarm clock and to the best of my knowledge it still works, even though I never want to hear it ever again.

You know, I'm really not sure anymore. I play pinball at the bar across the street that's named the Slingshot. Never thought about it but I doubt that it's a coincidence. Then again I've never seen anyone go into the gun store.

Oregonians love guns. There is a popular bumper sticker that reads 'Orygun', which pokes fun at mispronunciation of the state's name as well as looking like a similar sticker supporting UO. Its pro-firearms stance is not ironic.
