As mentioned in the last clip, I REALLY hated the original cast recording of this when I was 4 or 5, and this was by far my least favorite part. It actually made me angry to hear it.
This version... I don't even know what.

Gayer than Pirates of Penzance. Who would've thought that possible!

"Faggy pirates" tag.
go back to tumblr, jesus your posting history is enough to make people cry.
Were they that faggy, though? I was under the impression that pirates were mostly of the butch, gay biker variety. Black Bart was a little faggy, granted, but most of them were macho bears, surely!
Macho and Bear are antonyms.
When y'all Alabamans graduate high school may hear tell that many folks workin in showbizz identify as gay n that gays don't bein called fags, especially by 'nonimous shitkickers on the internets.
I don't care if you personally don't like the word 'faggy' used in jest on Portal of Evil Television. I don't by into an "any use of *that* word is wrong" philosophy for any word. That kind of philosophy is straight uphill and it's too sensitive.
We're not starting a fucking pogrom here. We're tagging dumb videos with dumb tags.
The 'black people' and 'white people' tags are often fairly cruel and not meant to be taken especially seriously, either. You can't seriously enjoy the harsh humor on this site and say that the only exception is 'faggy'.
Furthermore, given the culture on this site, there are practically few members without a developed sense of irony or sensitivity.
There are some, but this isn't YT or Reddit etc.
Not a lot of members here read 'faggy pirates' and want to push the line 5 steps further in word or action.
I'd just like to point out that every single person I've known who uses the words "fag" and "homo" in real life is queer as a duck.
Also Dinkin Flicka is an obvious fake account (I hope).
ok, so *almost* no one is advocating a faggy pogrom
though, yogarfield, I can't tell how 'faggy' is modifying 'pogrom' when you phrase it that way
Are they antonyms? I've always used the two terms somewhat interchangeably. Granted, they are not direct synonyms - "macho" (in my experience) implies a degree of tough, muscular manliness, whereas "bear" (again, in my experience) implies a degree of hairy, sweaty manliness. Both are aspects of a similarly gendered archetype, with large areas of overlap. It is possible for someone to be macho and not bear (such as a perfectly shaven. muscle-bound MMA fighter), as well as for someone to be bear and not macho ("sloppy bears", like Bob Belcher), but they are hardly *antonyms*. Surely?
Or have I misunderstood?
Sanest Man Alive
Oh god, I thought someone was calling a figgy pogrom! Thank goodness my Xmas pudding is still safe.
That's what I was going for.

I agree, Maya Angelou on the Richard Pryor show was heartrending.

For whatever reason I keep seeing Peter Hook.

Reminds me of the story Bob Hoskins told about working on Hook, where he and Dustin Hoffman realized that Captain Hook and Smee were basically a pair of old queens and played it up accordingly.

There are two types of performances that piss me off to no end: live television productions of rehearsed performances, and improv comedy.
Both are a venue that have all the time in the world to prepare and polish material well ahead of time, but say FUCK THAT and go with live, off the cuff stunt gimmicks that result in inferior products. Or maybe it's a chicken and the egg thing where they're talentless to begin with and go with the gimmick as an excuse for the end result shittiness. Case in point: 99% of improv comics are the unfunniest people you will ever meet. Live/improv crap always comes off as LOOK AT ME attention whoring rather than displaying any kind of talent or artistic expression.
I think the movie Scrooged perfectly summed up the idiocy of live television productions.
I think they do it to create a sense that it's extra special. That your watching something that's happening RIGHT NOW. You'd better not miss out and have to watch it on Hulu! Then again, I think most people under the age of 40 or 50 really don't care. This whole thing is mostly for grandma and grandpa.
