At this point it's a huge scam. I used Furcadia eons ago when it was new (which was like 96-97) and it was just a goofy way to graphical chat with your friends and furries had not yet turned it into a gigantic fucking cesspool. The devs were ex-Ultima folk who had made Furcadia out of a re-skin of an actual online RPG they were developing called Dragonspires which showed a lot of promise. They kept promising the RPG, but were always updating Furcadia instead. Eventually it was obvious that the donations they kept soliciting really just went to Furcadia and the devs furry lifestyle (which at that point was apparently know widely known). Years later, and the much promised client updates to an entirely upgraded game have never materialized (you can probably still run Furcadia on Win 3.1), yet they constantly solicit for donations and charge for in-game cosmetics at retarded prices, which of course the socially broken users will gladly pay. Watching this video blows my mind because I remember way back then when I used to use it and the servers were mainly just ordinary people fucking around and chatting, but now it truly has descended into the shit we always knew it would.

This is the first time I've seen the game aside from a glance or two from one of my brother's computer screens.

That history lesson just seals the deal why I'm glad I never got involved.

If I had spent that much on Furcadia, I'd be angry anyway.

The other really funny thing about Furcadia is that users can make their own worlds. When you go into someone's custom world, the world DLs to your computer the code for constructing it (called Dragonspeak) is given to you so you can also borrow certain elements for your own worlds. sharing was basically the idea, but SOOO many people went batshit out of their mind if someone used anyone elses code. There was a video on here a while back of some epic meltdown on YT by someone bitching about their ripped off Furcadia world.

It's under the Furcadia tag. Now that I think about it, I'm a little surprised there haven't been more Furcadia videos on this site.
