Elevator pitch: there's two main characters, the Bright Mystic and the Woman of the Woods and there's a love story surrounding them and there's also a scene at the beginning where there is a baby dragon presented by a king to a little boy in the middle of the river.

So she's taking the Wolf: the Animated Feature approach then?

I don't really know anything about WOLF, but, checking the website, it looks like someone had a solid script and storyboarded it out before sending it out to animators who seem to be doing some pretty nice work for an unpaid amateur production.

Anyway, while there is a donation page at the WOLF site, I don't think they're asking for million script-and-storyboard unseen.

Wolf was a popular exhibit on PoE-Red; it was the brainchild of an inept animator/ unrealistic visionary who expected a masterpiece but didn't want to work at it. As oddeye said, she tried foisting her idea off onto internet people rather than venture capitalists, but otherwise it sounds like a similar story. (she never asked for million, but she did ask for free labor in the form of unpaid animators, unpaid voice actors, unpaid editors etc etc etc, all of which was, and largely still is, script-and-storyboard unseen.)

Basically, Wolf is this only with the attitude towards capital in reverse: instead of saying "Rich guys, please pay me million so I can make my movie", she said "Poor people, please work for nothing so I can get my movie made for free".

They have a bunch of rough animation (and some finished shots) identified by Scene and Shot, which is really only possible if you're working from storyboards or a very descriptive script.

The animation, even in rough state, looks pretty good to me, re: approaching straight-to-video Disney sequel territory. Much better than I would have expected from unpaid, Internet-sourced animators.

Wolf's also been in the making for roughly twelve years. Twelve years, and that handful of rough-cut animations is *all* they have to show for it.

There was also a whole mess of shady dealings and disgruntled former "employees" documented on poe-Red, but much of that info has since been lost to the Great 404. The majority of what you see written on the official WOLF page was made right at the start, back in 2002/ 2003 or so, and has stayed virtually untouched since. The movie dragged on for years, and remains "in development", but their enthusiastic fanbase started losing interest around 2006, and even the true believers were gone by 2009. I'm not even sure if the *creator* is still involved; it might just be one or two of her most diehard disciples keeping the flame burning.

Still, 10 years later, even in a far-from-finished-and-probably-will-never-be-finished state, they still seem to have a lot more to show for it than I suspect there will ever be of THE BRIGHT MYSTIC.
