I have long held the opinion that this is the 2nd best Bond movie after Moonraker.

infinite zest - 2014-12-18

Yeah Moonraker is my favorite too, but there are more Bond movies that I haven't seen than ones that I have, including this one, apparently.. I tried watching Quantum of Solace and didn't finish it. I've said it before but I think the Bond series needs to pull sort of a reverse Batman: the gritty, more realistic reboot of Batman is what I liked about the comics and even The Animated Series vs. the campy "ZAP POW" action the Schumacher one was trying to recreate. But what's the fun of James Bond if you take away all his cool toys and replace them with cloaking devices and cellphones and whatnot? That's what Mission Impossible was for!

My favorite is 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. Never been a fan of Moore, but he really did get some of the best story lines/ bad guys.

Moonraker was the most 80's Bond film in the franchise. I'm not a huge Roger Moore fan, but the opening aerial sequence is my favorite pre-credits opener in the series.

Sometimes I think A VIEW TO A KILL is my favourite Bond movie.

Then I remember it has a robot dog as a plot device. (Okay, it's never actually used in the main story, rather to set up a gag at the end, but still.) I do love the opening titles, though.

I'm 40, so A VIEW TO A KILL was really the first Bond movie that came out when I was old enough to pay attention to the marketing machine, especially with the Duran Duran video airing a couple of times a week on CBC's VIDEO HITS with Samantha Taylor, and it almost certainly was the first Bond movie I ever actually watched, so it will always have that that sentimental place in my heart, but, yeah, as an adult, I prefer Sean Connery BOND films for being a little more serious than most of the Roger Moore BOND films (but not too serious, I never really got into the Daniel Craig BOND films).

Sometimes I think A VIEW TO A KILL is a crappy Bond movie.

Then I remember it has a robot dog as a plot device.

I used to wind up watching a lot of Roger Moore Bonds with my dad as a child. I loved them all. The Connery ones seemed way too dry and uneventful for my tastes. I would keep hearing that Goldfinger was easily the best Bond film, but I couldn't really understand the point of radiating gold and most of the movie was just Bond talking to people.

Then I became an adult and it quickly became pretty obvious to me that Goldfinger is the best Bond movie ever.

But Tanya Roberts plays the dumbest Bond Girl ever; she was snuck up on by a blimp for god's sake.

I just want to make it clear that my previous comment was only for comic effect, and while I rarely think about bond movies one way or the other, this one is really nothing but great.
