Ron also forged their wedding bands out of some metal fixtures he found at the office and melted down. I grow increasingly convinced that Ron Swanson is one of those Celtic deities that are versed in all mortal skills.

I believe in Pawnee. The internet and the media would tell you otherwise, but I am convinced that all over America are bright little pockets of decency, where liberal bureaucrats are hard-working public servants, Libertarians are awesome, self-sufficient individuals who really care about freedom. Nerdy guys can find true love, and everybody gets along on mutual respect.

I thought of this when I was listening to "Serial", and there was a liberal attorney and a conservative attorney working together on an innocence project, joking about their differences. Turns out there are conservatives who want to help people who are wrongly convicted. Where are they? They're not in the youtube comments, and they're not on cable news.

When Leslie Knope needed a favor, the chief of Police in Pawnee once said "I have an infinite number of favors for Leslie Knope, because she's the kind of person who uses her favors to help other people." That's what America is like, when America doesn't suck.

How did you manage to type all of that while choking yourself with a tie and jacking off? Doorknob method, or what?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-01-07

I did the typing, while your mom jacked me off.

EvilHomer - 2015-01-07

Stars for the first three posts.

BUT HOW DID YOU REANIMATE HER CORPSE?!

Bort - 2015-01-07

I have to admit, after every episode of P&R I have a big dumb smile on my face, and it's because the Pawnee way is all about respect and cooperation. There's a whole hell of a lot of decency on that show; that's not a bad way to live.

Also, the people of Pawnee were right all along: pizza DOES make for an awesome hamburger bun.

Okay Yog, you win, I've got a nasty reply that I've been saving for years, and it's brilliant, but faced with the prospect of actually using it, I'd much rather throw in the towel.

Nick Offerman talks openly about sobbing while reading the scripts from the final season. So I guess I can admit that I recently learned that one thing that makes me cry is a wedding where a three-legged pit bull walks down the aisle. And a song about a Tiny Horse going to Horsey Heaven can inexplicably make me break down, I mean BREAK THE FUCK DOWN!

EvilHomer - 2015-01-07

What is the reply?

Bort - 2015-01-07

"And a song about a Tiny Horse going to Horsey Heaven can inexplicably make me break down, I mean BREAK THE FUCK DOWN!"

Let me guess: at some point or other, you had a beloved pet who died. Because that's exactly the spot where "5000 Candles" kicks me.

Incidentally, anybody who has a particularly hard time dealing with the death of a pet should check out The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement at

aplb.org.

They have specialized support chats that are supervised by trained grief counsellors. I found it very helpful, and I learned that for some people, the grief is overwhelming, beyond what most people can understand. It may be because (for example) their little dog was torn up in front of them by a bigger dog. I've heard some real horror stories. For these people, they need to have a place were they're not going to be judged.

A word of warning. Their chat software was archaic ten years ago, and it hasn't changed. Expect to take some time getting registered and logged on in the beginning.

That address is worth holding onto, if only to pass onto someone else one day.

Also, I heard that Betty White wrote a book about mourning a pet.

Ah Holmesy, I was just foolin'. Love ya, babe.
