When I saw this at age fourteen, I hoped my life would be as interesting as Otto's.

No such luck.

I have the vaguest memories of seeing this in the theatre when I was two years old with my brother and my parents because they couldn't find a sitter. It's actually the first movie I remember seeing, and I made my dad rent it over and over, much to the chagrin of my mom.

I was dating this girl for a little while who said she met Alex Cox at a bar and he was totally hitting on her, like she was embarrassed to tell me that, and I was like "man I'd fuck Alex Cox" and she got offended. It's too bad that his subsequent films haven't been up to par, although the Straight to Hell directors cut (aka Straight to Hell Returns) fixes a lot of the problems with the original.. Repo Girl, I dunno, am I missing something? Sid and Nancy was a good biopic but nothing's come remotely close to the genius of this film.

I've got to see the Straight To Hell recut, because I already like the original a lot. It's no Repo Man but it's pretty great.

Yeah I liked the original too.. the redux doesn't reinvent the wheel like the different cuts of Blade Runner but it's bloodier and prettier to look at. That's good enough for me!

My favorite part of this movie is the bit with the "not my face" guy.

Some of my favorites

"Awwww.... Dukey Wookey hurt his widdle hand!"

"Plate O' Shrimp, 6.99"

"You shithead! I'm GLAD I tortured you!"

"Feeling Seven up"

The shoot-out in the liquor store "The lights are gettin dim."

The entire Lattice Of Coincidence speech is my favorite. One of my favorite scenes in anything, really.

The Circle Jerks cameo is up there, too.

Fox Harris (J. Frank Parnell) was a pretty good actor who played a bunch of shitty little roles in shitty little movies, like the time he played a mousy John who gets beaten to death in Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. But this was maybe the one time he got to play the crucial scene in a classic, his one shot at immortality, and he nailed it. Love how he showed us his fucked up bridgework at just the right moment. He died within a few years of this release, at the uncomfortably young age of 52, I haven't been able to find the cause.

Although "Return of the Living Dead" is a much better movie, "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers" is the best perfiormance by Linnea Quigley's tits.

The IRL father of the neutron bomb, Samuel T. Cohen, had some Opinions on its use and on foreign policy in general. After the program was cancelled he wrote a book titled "Fuck You! Mr President" which he gave out on the internet for free.
