First Act actually makes some surprisingly good instruments at a low price-point.

All things considered, they get a pretty awesome sound out of it, and although I couldn't find the price of the drum set, the guitar (which includes the amp and everything) is under 100 bucks. If your goal is to do some lo-fi stuff like Sebadoh or something, this seems like a pretty cost-effective way of doing it.
