Also your aquarium is shit! Just a bunch of cheap beginner corals and your fish have conflicting aggression profiles!

Christianity at it's finest.

So what's the problem here?

They should do a dramatic youtube comment reading on this.

I don't really care for Dawkins; I generally find his ideas trite & limited. (The Selfish Gene was fucking awful.) But he is pure gold in these. And I'm glad he's around, because anyone who makes fundamentalists this spit-raving mad can't be all bad.
As a point of reference, they don't get this mad over Hitler. But Dawkins is apparently in a league of evil all his own. It's delicious.
|Xenocide - 2015-01-22 |
Old, white, racist, angry that people who don't share his religious views exist, furious at Muslims, contemptuous of women, certain that his demographic is the most persecuted on Earth, and utterly convinced that the key to a perfect society is for everyone to be converted to his way of thinking.
I just described both the average Christian fundamentalist and Richard Dawkins.
But Dawk's youtube videos ARE funnier than anything fundies have ever come up with, so give him that.
Shorter version: "I have never actually read anything by Dawkins or listened to any of his lectures."
Bullshit. I have read The Selfish Gene as well as several other statements & watched interviews with him. Xeno nailed it. I'm sorry if your idol is unpalatable, but you need to face the evidence. It's what Dawkins himself would want.
Ditto. Atheism shouldn't even need figureheads, but if we must, I wish they weren't such asses.
It's hard to explain to people that I am an atheist, but not the strictly guidelined atheist that has come to define the word. So mostly I don't bother.

.....minus any one adjective, and you described just about any average group member
I'd like to know how Dawkins is racist, though. Maybe I missed it.
meant as reply to Xenocide
Criticizing Islam is the same as being racist at muslims, because any criticism of Islam is Islamaphobia which frequently contains racist anti-arab elements so therefore criticizing Islam is being racist.
This has become the standard Muslim claim on the internet in response to any criticism of Islam in any form, and also, in somewhat less extreme form, is a observation from many progressive groups.
"Dawkins is a racist!" is the new popular way to dismiss him, as seen in Xenocide's post above. I'm sure many Christian fundamentalists are sad they didn't think of it years ago. It dovetails very nicely with the "Dawkins was never a progressive, because he's an ignorant upper class white academic who's said some dumb things about women in recent years" position now, too.
Honestly, the right wing should buy a gift basket or something for the left, for how eagerly and rapidly it eats its own at the drop of a hat.
He's said some pretty problematic things on Twitter recently, and when he gets called on it he claims he was just being sarcastic. Not just the anti-Islam stuff but a bunch of transphobic and misogynistic stuff as well.
.....yeah, I don't think he's got a leg to stand on about some of the sexist shit he has said, and I don't know about the transphobic
I'm a little skeptical about Xenocide's rant though.
"He's said some pretty problematic things on Twitter recently..."
That's a funny thing to write. You're a funny guy, fluffy.

I've always loved the way that deeply religious people, Christians in particular, tag the phrase "god bless" to the end of their naked anger and hatred, as if it excuses them from having done something they clearly understand is wrong.
It's basically using god's name in vain.
