So wouldn't that make this a case of felony assault and robbery?
theSnake - 2015-01-24
If you have a concealed weapon permit you better damn well conceal your weapon or this will happen to you no matter what color you are. Nothing racist about this idiocy.
Binro the Heretic - 2015-01-24

He had his weapon concealed, Mister Vigilantewannabe happened to spot the guy out in the parking lot taking his gun out of the glove box and putting it in his shoulder holster. When the guy with the gun went into Wallyworld, the attacker jumped him from behind.

You can't tell me the white attacker would have tried the same shit had he seen a fellow white guy tucking a gun into his coat. If anything, he would have alerted one of the security guards or called the cops.

"Second uhmendment rights is only fer white folks!"

blue vein steel - 2015-01-24
i guarantee you that if it was a middle aged, fat white guy, with a shoulder holster pressed into the fat rolls of his too small American flag short-sleeved button-up, underneath his NASCAR jacket in the victims place, this would never have happened, especially not the continued restraint after, i'm sure, the victim was yelling that he had a permit.

Stars for Binro and Steel.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-01-24
Definitely, the guy's an idiot. What KIND of idiot he happens to be is immaterial.

It's hard for me to imagine a black jumping to this kind of conclusion about a white guy, or a white guy jumping to this kind of conclusion about another white guy. But I guess that's because I'm a racist.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-01-26
This isn't something I can imagine anyone doing to anyone, but this is Florida.

That really is the only explanation you need.

simon666 - 2015-01-24
The attacker is facing assault chargers. And the few gun right's blogs I went to covering this are all on the side of the gun owner--suppose I suspected differently?

Yahoo's take is on the vigilante aspect:

Mother Jone's take is about the implied racism:

And stars.

Meerkat - 2015-01-24
Man that horsefucking guy from the other video better stay away from the assault chargers.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-01-24
It's a shame the man didn't stand his ground and shoot the bad guys attacking him.
The Mothership - 2015-01-24
I agree with you in spirit, but we all know if he had shot those white guys he would then have been shot himself by police or some other white guy with a gun, without question.

Meerkat - 2015-01-24
Plus stray good guy bullets will kill you just as dead as stray bad guy bullets.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-01-24
Way to stop that lawbreaker, man! No telling who else he would've piledrived before being brought to justice!
Gmork - 2015-01-24
Vigilante attitudes and paranoia about NEEDING a gun are the problems, not the existence of guns in general. I don't feel like I need a gun, and I don't own one, but stopping people who haven't proven to be irresponsible or criminal from owning them is fascist and unrealistic.

The person who tackled the gun owner could have been shot - it could have been an IRRATIONAL person who he tried to take down, and someone could have been shot dead. And in florida, he would have been cleared by the ridiculous-even-by-NRA-standards "stand your ground" law.

Shoebox Joe - 2015-01-24
I want to agree with Gmork on the paranoid/vigilantism, but to me that feels like a rhetorical statement. Doesn't matter if you have a gun or a gavel, you'll still be looking for trouble.

P.S. I haven't really followed the NRA, so I wouldn't mind some links to the NRA openly opposing a law that can feed paranoia/vigilantism/gun sales.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-01-24
It could have been worse. It could have been a lot worse.

The gun owner could easily have killed that guy. If that guy had a weapon of his own, he may just as easily have decided to pull it on the gun owner.

Could have been very nasty indeed.
TeenerTot - 2015-01-24
Oh, Florida.
crasspm - 2015-01-24
Walmart, racism, guns, mcdonalds, fear, anxiety, violence, offense. America!
oddeye - 2015-01-24
Being attacked for walking around with a gun is why everyone NEEDS to carry a gun. This NEVER would have happened if the victim was armed.
SteamPoweredKleenex - 2015-01-24
If only he'd had a gun.

And hadn't been black. You'd think being 62 years old would be enough, but noooooo...
