PETA doesn't want people to mess with animals and that includes owning them as pets! BTW, it's spelled "chihuahua"

I've learned PETA mostly kills animals and makes an ass of themselves for attention. I've also learned SPCA raises tons of money and gives none of it to shelters but tells everyone they do.

Can someone suggest an animal welfare charity that, you know, cares for animals?

That guy - 2015-02-02

aw dude just walk up to your local shelter and give them money

you think they don't take donations?

Binro the Heretic - 2015-02-02

Are you defending what they did?

Crackersmack - 2015-02-02

I'll defend it; I bet the dog was chained to the porch 24/7. A lot of people think that is an OK thing to do. If that wasn't the case then yeah, the PETA person dognapped that dog and is totally in the wrong. But I bet the dog was being mistreated or neglected and the PETA person had been monitoring it over a period of time.

Contrary to some people's opinions not all PETA people are nutcases, most of them legitimately care about animals. They also would know that calling the authorities in this situation will result in nothing happening as long as the dog has food and water, if anyone from the city even cared to check on it.

Or maybe some maniac in a PETA van drives around the city stealing well-kept, beloved dogs for no reason. I just don't think that's the most likely scenario.

Smaller shelters will gladly take even 5 bucks to buy a little bowl or something. While big-name humane societies get government backing, many smaller shelters get diddly.

Plus it's really hard to convince people to give money to like an Iguana Shelter or something because Iguanas are not as cute as kitties and puppies. To most people, anyway.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-02-02

If you feel an animal is being abused or neglected, there are proper legal channels to go through. Unless the dog was in immediate danger, they did exactly the wrong thing.

PeTA euthanizes thousands of animals a year, and while I'm sure some of them are somehow justified due to the conditions they were taken from and the subsequent health issues, I really can't see how a healthy looking dog's health could go south so fast, in this case under two days.

I feel kinda bad for not doing anything, but some old neighbors of mine left town for a few days and left their rottweiler in the apartment. I wasn't around a ton, but I never saw anyone come or go to check on him, just heard the sound of a crying dog. So ostensibly he was hungry, needing to poop and pee, and to just get out of the tiny box that was that apartment would've been great I'm sure. Anyway 2 1/2 days later and everything was fine. Granted there's a big difference between a Rottweiler and a Chihuahua, but something just doesn't add up here.

And like every movie chiche, I walk by the same house with the barky dog who's chained up in the front who wants to kill me. I never see him not outside, but he seems healthy since he's been there for several years now. If this had been an outside cat, nobody would've done a thing. Sure, a cat, raccoon, bigger dog could potentially attack and kill a small dog, but I think that's up to the right of the owner to decide, along with a concerned citizen maybe posting a note on the front door warning them of other dangerous animals if they noticed this to be an every day thing.

@crackersmack I realized you're trying to impress one of those Peta babes with their long, ripe armpit hair but the police report doesn't back you up. In fact it even shows Peta put dog treats on the porch to lure the well behaved dog. It wasn't chained up.

That makes it even worse. Did PeTA EVER address this? Story's only a couple months old but their silence makes Bill Cosby's silence almost.. good.. in comparison. I'm also surprised I'm just seeing this on here now, but better now than never..

PeTA does have some nuts, but I dated a PeTA person for a little while, and attended a few rallies with her while we were together. And yeah. It was stuff like "let's not subject cute animals to anal electrocution or skin them alive for their fur" or something along those lines. A lot of the people at the rallies even ate meat, and nobody was judgemental. Like, you could be biting into the most delicious hamburger you've ever had but if you found out they were torturing the poor thing down at the slaughterhouse for fun (or SCIENCE) you'd probably be pissed too.

I honestly can't think of an explanation except that the house does kind of look like a construction zone.. it really boggles the mind, especially since these aren't your typical "PeTA nuts" but longtime workers for the organization.

Candlejackv616 - 2015-02-03

To throw my 2 cents in, the one thing that has bothered me about PETA is their sanctimonious attitude and reluctance to acknowledge the gray areas of what they are involved in, let alone their association with eco terrorism but that is another matter entirely at this point, but its a thing that somehow gets glossed over like its ok, when their associations in the past and present have not been anything they should necessarily be proud of. Its intellectually dishonest and we are in 2015 and with all the connectivity technology allows us its still not very well know what they or other organizations present that aren't what they seem. Granted its not like they are the only ones but damn is it disheartening.

takewithfood - 2015-02-02

How can a bizarre story have an even more bizarre outcome? Isn't the outcome part of the story?

Also, that fucking sucks.

infinite zest - 2015-02-02

Yeah.. I was thinking "bizarre outcome" being something like the Chihuahua being delivered back in a fruit basket or something cute like that.. D:

infinite zest - 2015-02-02

But 5 for the evil, and because the ad at the top for me is an amazon.com ad for fruit baskets, no shit. D:

Binro the Heretic - 2015-02-02

Stars for evil.

namtar - 2015-02-02

The Accomack County Commonwealth's Attorney won't press charges and his response is so lazy that I'm dumbfounded by it.

http://youtu.be/8NSUweNqZlQ

Basically, the victim is a poor hispanic family, who lives in a "shed" in a trailer park according to the attorney, and the attorney doesn't want to deal with PETA's lawyers.

poopy - 2015-02-04

1:18 my poopy!

pyslexic dharmacist - 2015-02-06

Wait, why would you give a fruit basket to someone you (apparently?) thought was abusing his dog?
