You know, when I pretend I'm speaking a foreign language, I'm pretty sure I'm not using actual words.

I was a DJ at a top 40 Alternative station back when there was such a thing and this song was popular. I had nightmares like this. This and that damned "One Week" song by Bare Naked Ladies.

Maggot Brain - 2015-02-10

This bit has been done better else where but the thing that gets me every time time is how it ends up sounding like an Italian trying to speak Dutch.

METAL BLADE RECORDS, EVERYONE!

Home of GWAR!

oddeye - 2015-02-10

I don't get it

EvilHomer - 2015-02-10

They are speaking in the gibberish-lyrics of an American rock band, popular with wives and girlfriends the nation over.

oddeye - 2015-02-10

Who? Why would English sound like this? Wouldn't it just be like half-formed words that don't always make contextual sense and may also be in a different order?

EvilHomer - 2015-02-10

They are called The Goo Goo Dolls.

http://youtu.be/yP4qdefD2To

They were the wussy flavour-of-choice for many who were curious about the mid-90s alt-rock scene, but were scared by loud guitars. The people in this video are quoting a half dozen or so famous singles put out by the band; I suppose the joke is, the Goo Goo Dolls' lyrics are terrible and sound like they written by a non-native speaker?

EvilHomer - 2015-02-10

As alluded to above, GGD is pretty notorious for having been signed to Metal Blade Records, a large indie label that specializes in thrash, death metal, and hardcore bands, such as GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Kid Fenris - 2015-02-10

In all fairness, the Goo Goo Dolls were first called the Sex Maggots and took a few albums to turn into adult contemporary.

As a teenager, I owned every Goo Goo Dolls album. And yes, it did make me sad to know that life is more than who we are.

Sounds like Simlish to me.

Somebody go mod the Sims and get it on a torrent before EA kills it.

This screams: Im fat and my boyfriend is a hipster and I have given up.

I had no idea this was clickhole before you tagged it. 5 for authenticity!

il fiore bel - 2015-02-10

Hahaha, "scared by loud guitars." Yeah, I suppose the music felt "safer" with Mr. Rzeznik behind the mic. I enjoyed them for a while, but their music really has devolved into godawful shit now. (Seriously, if you were of the opinion that it was terrible even in the 90s, it has gotten worse.) Plus, they sort of seem to hate their drummers for some reason.

Iris will always be great, though.

il fiore bel - 2015-02-10

oops, meant as a reply to oddeye

Spit Spingola - 2015-02-10

I had to check google after watching this video and it turns out there is more than one Goo Goo Dolls song.

fluffy - 2015-02-10

I guess people didn't notice the Clickhole tag?
