Honestly, I don't think I've ever heard that word used outside of that Jay-Z song (and some other hip hop songs) and didn't know that it was a pejorative necessarily, just something that rhymes with something else, until I looked it up. Urbandictionary isn't always the best source, but I never made the connection, I just knew that you shouldn't say it. Maybe it skipped a generation or two. I dunno.

And they called him a "cluckaninny" that other time.

Haha I figured as much.. I wonder if a lot of those writers went on to write for shows like Family Guy and the like. Animaniacs always seemed stuck. Like, it's a kids show but let's write in a bunch of references that only parents would probably get in an attempt to show off our adult humor skills. Back then, "adult" animation was pretty much The Simpsons, The Critic or Hentai, save for the myriad prime time animated shows that were cancelled after one season. This could be frustrating for a writer who's written him or herself into the animated realm, and I could see someone just snapping and saying "fuck it, I'm just going to do something incredibly racist and see if anybody notices."
