simon666 - 2015-03-01 Replying so this link is higher (more visible).
It looks like the local news found out who the pilot was and his co-workers ratted him out.

I have an uncle who was a TWA pilot for decades and a good friend of my family has been a flight attendant since the mid 90s and worked for most of the major US airlines and I'm comfortable saying that, based on reports from them, this is nothing.
|
kingarthur - 2015-03-01 I'd also like to point out that, in business textbooks, whenever they want to point to an example of liability fails when it comes to employee insensitivity they seem to always have an airline to point to.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-01 My favorite firsthand accounts I've heard are:
-Someone not attaching the trailer to one of those luggage trucks right so it came off, rolled a few thousand yards across the runway, and slammed in to the engine of a plane waiting at the gate. Everyone pretended they didn't see anything and the plane took off later that day without any sort of inspection or anything
-The common practice (at least on Delta) of disregarding people's requests for regular vs. decaf coffee and just giving everyone in the plane regular or deaf depending on whether you want them to calm down or not.
-Any flight attendant can kick off any passenger for any reason. They have the final authority. The attendant I know has stopped takeoff and kicked people off for swearing at him before.

From the studios that gave you "Three Men and a Baby", it's ... "Eleven Fucking Over-the-Top Ass-Fucking Homosexuals and a Granny"!

My stars are for the dog at 1:44. Why was the pilot suspended for this?

infinite zest - 2015-03-01 TV's a little different though. Like, I lost a lot of respect for Jonah Hill when he got angry at a Paparazzo and called him a "faggot." He immediately apologized and I guess now everything's cool, and he seems like a genuinely cool guy but I'll forever associate his homophobic outburst with the face. If you've ever worked as a line cook the R word and the F word come out a bunch, which are pretty much the only two pejoratives that I hate hate hate. But if the food's good I'll still eat it I guess because I don't have to meet the person who cooked my food just like I don't have to meet the pilot (pretty sure they don't let you do that anymore anyway) and find out that my food or flight was cooked or flown by a faceless asshole the way I'd have to look at the Duck Dynasty guy if I watched it..

oddeye - 2015-03-02 it's still not an ok word to use because it's difficult to seperate from the homophobic context.
What's the R word?
|
|
Shoebox Joe - 2015-03-02 Oh jesus. I really didn't expect anyone on here to defend the use of the word faggot with Louis C.K.'s trolling. Don't you realize that homophobes believe any limp wristed faggot is an idiot with sexual preference?
Seriously; hook, line and sinker you emotionally inbred fuck.
P.S. I was going to use "nigger" in place of "fuck" to reference George Carlin, but I didn't want anyone to think you could use "nigger" in place of "black"
|
Shoebox Joe - 2015-03-02 And just so we're god damn fucking clear.
WITH. As in "and" tense and not a "use" tense.
As in "idiot with a sexual preference?"
Where's my pony. >:(

Still better than hearing "UP UP UP FUCK WE'RE DEAD!"
|
Bort - 2015-03-01 But not nearly as good as doing the whole Willy Wonka "there's no earthly way of knowing" bit.

The Mothership - 2015-08-07
I like how one pilot listening in suggest that another pilot was the one talking, and that guy was all like 'fuck you, that was not me!".
