Was all of this done in camera?
Nena is one of those pop idols where people aren't interested in any other song than this particular one. She's touring her new album right now which is full of party tunes and nostalgia. Music industry must be depressing.

I dunno if I'd mind being stuck in that little one-hit wonder bubble. I guess I'm also putting Rick Springfield and Tommy Tutone in the same category, as well as 90s bands like Harvey Danger (Harvey Danger are NOT a one-hit-wonder, but to most people they just have that song). It'd be kinda cool: make a shit ton of money and still get ASCAP checks, be able to pretty much make music as a career and tour, and do whatever the fuck you want even though everyone's just there for "99 Red Balloons," "Jesse's Girl," "8675309" and "Flagpole Sitter." If you don't play it they'll be pissed, but other than that you can pretty much do whatever you want, and there's no expectations.

I guess Tommy Tutone regularly starts and ends his set with 8674309, and sometimes plays it 3 or 4 times in an hour-long set.

What I don't get is why the German version rhymed "Firework" with "Captain Kirk," but the English version didn't. That's always bugged me.

Holy shit! I took German in high school and we had to memorize the German version and they changed "Captain Kirk" to something else. Maybe they were afraid that whoever owned Star Trek would sue or something?

As someone who just downloaded 14 gigabytes of mash up mp3s, I keep waiting for Jay-Z to join in.

I knew someone who was really in to Pound Puppies. In like 8th grade. He did not turn out well.
