5 stars for Jason Funderberker.
I can't even watch this in Canada but 10 stars for Over The Garden Wall. Beautiful series.
Charming and refreshingly no "awesome" style humor in sight.
infinite zest
I think I know what you mean. Adventure Time is totally out of order for me, but it seems like it's probably what you're referring to. Everything's just "totally 'natch, bro" vs. when the show first started and was still aimed at its target audience and not adults who "get it" and are "down with it.."

Rodents of Unusual Size
I just finished watching this last week. It is one of the best things.
I've been hearing a lot of hype for this series. I must check it out.

Rodents of Unusual Size
The ending is mythic in a way that is hard to describe. A lot of the show is inspired by American 19th century children's literature, which in itself was always this weird mix of extremely disturbing and innocent. The show reflects that. The last two episodes really got to me and maybe it was because a relationship of mine had just ended but very few pieces of animation get to me like this one did. The ending felt like a sucker punch followed up by some tea.

Rodents of Unusual Size
Also in one of the first episodes, Chris Isaak plays a pumpkin demon.

I can not think of a single thing I would change about this show. Not even scene-to-scene. It's one of the best cartoons ever made.
damn this shit good
Now look up all the allusions to Dante's inferno. I ate this stuff up with a spoon.
This was a great series.
Shoebox Joe
I think I accidentally saw the ending in the related videos. :(

Still going to watch the series though. Heard about it but never looked into it.

The cat in that scene reminds me of this weird cartoon that I never got a name for, but it the scene I was a kitten being put into a loaf of bread dough by some rats or mice. Also, the adult cats wore dresses and such.
