Why do so many engineers dress like a PUA convention?

Very good, Oddeye! That's how we did it back in the 80's, anyway. A propane/oxygen mix directly into the chamber, and a spark plug with a driver that could be strobed to the resonant frequency of the chamber. You could break plywood with the results. I messed around a little at first with a speaker as they do, mainly so I could put some smoke in the thing and see the Karman vortex street that emerges from it's mouth.

I wish we'd invented this tech, but really it was the Germans back in WWII who I think first discovered this. The V1 rockets were basically this propulsion device.

ashtar: not really, if you're talking about electrical or chemical (read: petroleum) fires. This is why extinguishers come in different varieties, and why none of them are "comically large seltzer bottle".

It's also been my experience that blowing on a carbon rich fire is a great way to crank up the heat. Be so warned, AfroTech engineers.

Why of course you can. Take a drag on that smoke you've undoubtly got in your hand, and blow a smoke ring. Now blow many rings in succession. That is exactly what is happening here. No need for the smoke, but it helps to see what you are doing.

I'm quite serious about this. If these noobs would put some smoke in their bass bazooka, you'd see a chain of smoke rings coming out the nozzle. You think I am ribbing you but I am not.
