The Mothership - 2015-03-30

Desc: accurate.

Mister Yuck - 2015-03-30

That was adorable!

I'm amazed this thing has lasted so long. I wonder if people at MS try and get in on the Flight Simulator project just for the job security?

infinite zest - 2015-03-30

It says that this one's almost 10 years old, with the exception of an updated Steam edition, which to the best of my knowledge doesn't improve on the graphics. I can't remember if it was bundled or not but I remember playing FS95 and it was pretty fun and the graphics were great at the time: if I wanted dogfights I'd stick with Ace Combat, just like I'd go with Warcraft 2 instead of CIV2 if I wanted action. I'd like to see how this would/could look on a next gen system regardless.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-30

MS Flight Sim was a neat idea, but while it's not reached the limits of what it *could* do, it's pretty much reached the limits of what it *should* do.

What I want to see is a more fully-featured Kerbal Space Program with better atmospheric physics and Google Earth support.

IZ - did you ever play Sturmovik? Best dogfighting sim, hands down. Almost all the brains of MSFlight, plus you can blow up Communists for the glory of Emperor Showa.

infinite zest - 2015-03-30

Nope. Sounds cool tho.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-31

Peep it. IL-2 Sturmovik's main selling point was the realistic/ simulator approach to flying, as opposed to the arcade-style flying you find in games like Ace Combat. The degree of realism is customizable - so, for example, you can enable HUD radar and time dilation to skip boring bits/ slow down dogfights - but if you're really keen on flight sim experiences, then you can deal with everything from flaps to wind to to fuel mixtures, all while enjoying three-realtime-hour sorties over the Pacific, with nothing but your eyes and a paper map in a notebook to guide you.

It's not quite as autistic as MS Flight, but it can get very close, and it has the clear advantage of allowing you to shoot planes in half and drop bombs on Russian ships.

Any version of MSFlightSim that I owned collected dust when I finally managed to run Falcon 3.0 at any sort of playable performance level.

Cool. One of these days I'm gonna save up to get a new computer. I move on average every few months though so I don't really want the commitment of a desktop

EvilHomer - 2015-04-01

The game is more than ten years old and the specs are low. As long as your computer has more than 512MB of RAM and can run Windows XP, you'll be all set!

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-03-30

Do they know that they make games now where you can shoot missiles from airplanes, jump out of them onto a tank which you use to blow up another tank and then jump out and punch a dude and take a jeep that you crash into an airport and steal another jet?

EvilHomer - 2015-03-30

I cannot fucking wait for Just Cause 3.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-03-31

^ INDEED

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

JC3 looks pretty amazing. I lost my Red Dead Redemption so I kind of want to get a new game since nobody I know actually uses their xbox360s for games, just netflix. I've been wanting to check out Saints Row 3 for a while but last time I was at the store it was gone, but I saw Just Cause 2. I could pick up both for under , but I like to stick with one game at a time.

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-03-31

I tortured myself over Christmas with Dark Souls, but I don't regret it. Check Games for Gold every 15 days. Sometimes they put good stuff up there. I'm not a huge fan of Bioshock, but it was just free with Gold Membership, which I think you have to have to use Netflix anyway.

hammsangwich - 2015-03-30

For being a multi-billion dollar company, Microsoft has made some pretty terrible low-budget commercials.

Bus_Aint_Comin - 2015-04-01

"World Travel Airlines" should really start doing background checks on their pilots
