Can I take off your shirt? Can I put on your shirt? Over my shirt?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-03-31

See instructions for side B Panel A

Scrimmjob - 2015-04-01

May I put on my robe and wizard hat?

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-03-31

This is less like sex and more like click-through advertizing.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

For context this is a real thing apparently in california called the Consensual Sex Law. Not sure how they enforce it, but basically it's taking "no means no" to its logical conclusion. So at any point during a sexual assault allegation it can be proven without a reasonable doubt that the assaulter did not ask permission, they're basically fucked. It's to reduce sexual assault mainly on college campuses I think, which are usually more highly monitored than off-campus or other regular living situations. Even when I lived in the dorms for half a semester, you had to check in your "guest" at the front desk, which kind of removes any spontaneous unspoken consent the way that buying condoms with your partner does. Maybe you Californians know more about this than I do: it's good on paper, but I don't really see it having that much effect, especially with PSAs like this one.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

It doesn't even have to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt according to the law. Most assault allegations are handled internally by the school, and the accused is usually fucked no matter what. In those cases the school will heavily push for punitive action against the accused even in the absence of any evidence whatsoever. Probation, heavily pressured to move out to a difference dorm area, or plea bargaining to take sensitivity courses.

I knew one crazy student (textbook bipolar, couldn't keep any friends longer than a semester) who accused three different people of sexual assault over three semesters. Even up to the third time it happened, the school pushed for punishment against the accused simply because they were terrified of negative publicity for being "soft on rape".

Future trend: all college students issued body cams like cops?

SolRo - 2015-04-01

Yeah, those slaps on the wrist are horrible and all, but somehow the colleges where rape victims have to leave school or otherwise are stuck on the same campus as their rapist seem a bit worse.

That guy - 2015-04-01

^ two stupid things to compare

attaboy SolRo

SolRo - 2015-04-01

Don't you have to go complain about white people not getting enough attention somewhere else?

Xenocide - 2015-03-31

No one's denying that 50 Shades was a bit rapey but this sequel is just going too far in the other direction.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

If this clip touched a PUA convention, would they neutralize into water and an electrolyte?

Xenocide - 2015-03-31

We can only hope.

Gmork - 2015-03-31

"Can I thrust again?"
"Can I retract?"
"Can I thrust again?"

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

"Can I thr-- uh.. oh, would you like it if I put my pants back on?"

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

Or, the classic, "can I call you?" "yes" (deletes number)

Xenocide - 2015-03-31

ENGAGE SERVOS.

Rafiki - 2015-03-31

Oh, femdom roleplay. I'm not certain the problem with rapists is that they're not kinky enough, but ok.

That guy - 2015-03-31

Dang it, you said this like a minute before I said similar, below.

That guy - 2015-03-31

Guessing real, but yeah, this is pretty Poe's law.

I'm also guessing that there aren't a lot of real-world encounters where a woman says, specifically: you can't take off her shirt right now, but you can in a minute. Maybe in high school? Or maybe the bossy type?

That guy - 2015-03-31

holy shit, the whole series is stupid and belongs on here

good find Nominal

The fact that the series is called "Feminism for Bros" give it just that little extra spit-shine that makes it spectacularly self-parodying.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

Yeah this is a sex guide made by people who have never had decent sex in their life (outside of a paperback novel or online fan fic) and are terrified of the prospect.

Meerkat - 2015-03-31

When a girl unbuttons her pants and shoves your hand down there, that's a pretty good sign she wants to be touched.

Meerkat - 2015-03-31

But on the other hand what if I don't want my hand to get all icky? When does she have to ask if it's ok if her twat eats my fist?

Potrod - 2015-03-31

Even if she shoves your hand into her glistening crotch, you still need to ask.

Spaceman Africa - 2015-03-31

"Consent is sexy" this is such a dumb slogan. Consent isn't sexy, it's a necessity.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

So the only problem with this is the slogan?

Spaceman Africa - 2015-03-31

well "Feminism For Bros" is a pretty stupid name too

Nominal - 2015-03-31

Maybe this was meant to be super metaphorical and I'm just missing something, but what makes it unsettling is how it seems to not acknowledge how consent for sexual encounters is non-verbal and implied 99% of the time, which technically becomes rape under the kind of thinking presented here.

What was wrong with "no means no" ?

That guy - 2015-03-31

die cisgendered scum etc

Spaceman Africa - 2015-03-31

I mean it obviously depends on the partner's level of communication and comfort. Obviously not everyone has sex like in the video, but it never hurts to ask for a clear go-ahead. I think you're overthinking this a little.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

I'm going to propose that NOBODY has sex like in this video.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2015-03-31

Well, it's sexier than the alternative.

TheOtherCapnS - 2015-03-31

I am disturbed by the loudly miked smacking noises. They're kissing. We get it.

Nominal - 2015-03-31

Sexier than wordlessly initiating sex like almost everyone does?

See that's exactly what I was talking about. This video puts forth the notion that it's either this OR full on rape. That's an extremely disturbing notion to be pushing.

This almost reminds me of the Republican take on drugs. Is drug addiction a problem that should be addressed? Yes. Are satanists and drug dealers pushing crack on every grade school corner while hiding heroine syringes in Halloween candy, forcing us to adopt dishonest scare tactics and turn everyone into a criminal? No.

Hooker - 2015-03-31

You can avoid raping someone without exhaustive due diligence. I wonder if they even asked ethnic actors if they wanted to appear in this or if they realized there's no way any of them would say yes.

Spaceman Africa - 2015-03-31

"This video puts forth the notion that it's either this OR full on rape. That's an extremely disturbing notion to be pushing." you are the only person saying this

TeenerTot - 2015-04-01

For long-term couples, yes the consent is likely implied 99% of the time. I think this video is a reaction to the recent shit going down with casual encounters, and the fact that most rapists don't think they ARE raping. "Yeah, no means no. But she wasn't saying no when she passed out drunk!"

infinite zest - 2015-04-01

I think it's always good to ask. There's this girl that I see every once in a while, and we're both in pretty much fuckbuddy mode, but it's never planned, we just see each other at the bar and usually have sex after we bitch about how our shitty tinder dates went. But there've been a couple of times where I say no or she says no, and that's cool and we listen to music or smoke weed instead. And it's been like this for about 4 years now.

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2015-03-31

*may I

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2015-03-31

Simon says "Fuck me hard."

simon666 - 2015-03-31

I said no such thing.

TeenerTot - 2015-04-01

giggle

Mother_Puncher - 2015-03-31

I can't wait for this to be mandatory in porn.

The Mothership - 2015-03-31

Nope. Never had me no sex like that, and don't want to either.

Nikon - 2015-04-01

Why can't we have a love contract like on the Dave Chappell skit?

Potrod - 2015-04-01

You know that magical moment towards the end of a particularly good first or second date, when you suddenly stop talking, look into her eyes, and slowly move in for the kiss? Let's replace that with an explicit, verbal request.

Oktay - 2015-04-01

I believe this is a modified version of the Three-Way Handshake protocol from TCP.

Old_Zircon - 2015-04-01

Concordia University made this.

I haven't been to Montreal, but last time I was the big headline in thelocal weeklies was about a stripper who was suing the city for violating her right to free speech because of a ruing that her act, which involved letting male audience members penetrate her with a strapon on stage, constituted a violation of some regulation prohibiting public performance of sex acts on stage; she maintained that it wasn't sexual contact at all, it was performance art.

Between that and this video I'm starting to wonder about Montreal.

Old_Zircon - 2015-04-01

Also this is pretty old, we're like a year behind bodybuilding.com here.

Spaceman Africa - 2015-04-01

We're always a year behind bodybuilding.com

Old_Zircon - 2015-04-01

Hey, we've still got Greg Duva. Nobody else cares about hi except me and what, four other people on here maybe? But he's ours.

Old_Zircon - 2015-04-01

I think Benobve awareness outside of the lift enthusiast community is pretty much limited to us.

And there was that old guy who has recorded something like 500 original country songs. I forget his name. I know I'm subscribed to him but I can't figure out which one he is.

Old_Zircon - 2015-04-01

We're hip with it on the cutting edge
