The guy in the gray tee is a Walmart employee. The dude who shrugs off his jacket is one of the family members.

The family tried to camp in the parking lot and went into the Walmart to use the bathroom. Given their socioeconomic status, they probably tried to take hooker baths in the sinks.

There was an altercation with one of the Walmart employees. The cops were called in. The rest is on the video.

I read that they were caught stealing and then assaulted an employee inside of the store. Has the story changed?

The article I read didn't mention theft, but it's plausible there could have been some.

It just said an employee confronted members of the family in the bathroom and was pushed against a wall and verbally threatened resulting in the cops being called.

They might have been confronted about making a mess in the bathroom, shoplifting or both.

Sure i won't lie there were some nights waiting after days and days at the hop out, cops running us off the overpass when we would try to fly until our supplies were dwindling to the point where starvation and dehydration were becoming genuine concerns, when morale was at its lowest and the from reality of our situation would be rearing its ugly head when Zoe would sometimes, usually after the good part of a handle of Devils Springs, would offer herself up to us on cold rainy nights, almost always the only girl always, and we would gather around her in the firelight and push our way in one at a time, fumbling, grasping for that warmth, me feeling like Ben Hapscombe in It, all three hundred pounds of me, red and sweating and terrified, and she would lay her hand on my shoulder and whisper through her cracked lips that it was ok...that we were ok...and when the others would become jostly and impatient,by heir eyes becoming wild and anxious for their turn she would tell them all to fuck off and just soothe me and hold me sometimes for the rest of th night, she'd say it's ok otter mamas got you, got your u forever. Yeah the cops didn't appear to really know how best to keep this whole situation from spiraling out of control. I saw a lot of the aggressive folks just kind of hopping around looking for someone else to fight. Why weren't any of those guys zip tied? Were the police truly outnumbered here or just badly trained?

The cops were outnumbered early on, but everyone they faced was either inept or mediocre, minus the one guy who must have been strong enough to wrestle that gun away. Even if the peppper spray and tasers weren't doing enough they have fucking batons. And a few punches to the nose or jaw would have helped.
If you'd told me I'd see a video this year of AZ cops afraid to punch people, I wouldn't have believed it.
