I would've made him cut the orange before I told him what card it is.
It's pretty clear how this works...
bopeton Forgot stars. 5 of them because Harrison Ford.
gmol Ok I'll bite, how does it work? I can't imagine how I could push a card through an orange without the camera noticing...
bopeton That's why he's a magician and you're not!
Meerkat There's a reason the card is rolled up. Try pushing a soda straw into an orange. You can push a soda straw right through an apple if you do it right.
Meerkat The bigger question is how he got him to choose 9H. That's probably standard magician stuff but I know dick all about anything.
Wander Alternatively, he could be doing what he's been doing and straight up faking it. That IS an actor, there.
Wander Seriously, usually I hate the guy who is like "that magic isn't real!" but Blaine mostly got famous for camera editing tricks.
bopeton The real answer obviously is that Harrison is in on the trick.
Note the convenient "I just happened to be cutting this vegetable right before David Blaine showed me a trick involving cutting open a fruit." setup with the (surprisingly clean) knife and cutting board.
bopeton Also having him specifically say "Get the fuck outta my house" is another way of Blaine saying "there's nothing up my sleeve." It's to make people believe that Blaine couldn't have pre-set anything, since it's someone else's house and not his workshop or something.
It's true there in Harrison's house but what does that mean really? Nothing. Our mind just makes assumptions about it.
bopeton (ugh did I really type 'there' instead of 'they're'? Kill me.)
urbanelf He should have said, "Nazis... I hate these guys."
chumbucket Harrison tries so hard not to say anything but you can just feel the vibe on him saying "I really don't want to have to rifle through all of these fucking cards to see that mine isn't in here."
gravelstudios My problem with people like David Blaine and Chris Angel is that they try to convince gullible people that they are actually doing 'real' magic. guys like David Copperfield and Penn and Teller don't pretend what they're doing is real. Everybody knows it's a trick. But the newer sort of gonzo street magicians really try to manipulate people and it bothers me.
