They left all of the funny back at the house.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-05-11

I'll watch it when Comedy Central starts showing it 5 times a month, which is probably any day now.

Fact: when everybody else in America was watching OJ being chased by LAPD cops in the White Bronco, I was the only person in the theater watching Chevy Chase and Jack Palance in Cops and Robbersons.

On SNL, Chevy Chase used to do a spectacular fall every week on live TV, at the beginning of of the show, no less. It didn't hit me until very recently just how incredibly gutsy that was. He also contributed to the invention of the Fake News format that is the only thing that makes 21st century politics in America bearable, and oh how I wish that was hyperbole. It's really a shame where his career went from there, but at least it turned out better for him than for Belushi, and he might still surprise us. His turn as a bad guy on "Chuck" was super impressive.

Prickly Pete - 2015-05-11

If it makes you feel better, I've heard multiple places that Chevy Chase is the most colossal dick on the planet. And don't just take it from Dan Harmon; here's Paul Scheer with several horror stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHQV5kVl35Y

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

Having watched NSFW and that being my introduction to Scheer, I was amazed when I found out that he's bald. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's like when you're a kid and your mom comes home and has recolored her hair and a perm or your dad shaves off his mustache. It's like "who's this?" What's weird is the young comedians (both SNL and otherwise) sort of saved his career, beginning with Dirty Work, flop as it was. Vegas Vacation sure wasn't going to do it.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

Or.. NTSF that is.. dangit didn't mean to 5 star this, but those are some cool stories. Sort of forgot what I was rating there for a second.

EvilHomer - 2015-05-11

Fact: my home town was named in honor of the original Vacation.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

That's cool. So towns can just change their name like that? There's this town called Oregon City which was supposed to be the main Port town, but is now this boring little place. It still confuses people though, as the name implies the main metropolis. Someone should start a petition to change it to Mos Eisley!

EvilHomer - 2015-05-12

In fairness to the Wally, it's better than our other nickname: The Only Town in America That Refuses to Celebrate Martin Luther King Day.

Nominal - 2015-05-11

Jesus christ is Ed Helmes the most overrated comedic zero that they keep shoving in our face. Hes to comedy what Ryan Reynolds is to action.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

I'm still forcing myself to believe that he'll be good in the Deadpool movie.. then again I don't understand why they wouldn't just use the guy who voiced him in the video game. Besides a flashback or two to Weapon X experiment days, Reynolds' face is either all disfigured or he has his mask on anyway.

Gunny McRifleson - 2015-05-11

He's a shitty, discount Steve Martin right down to the banjo. I've heard Jason Sudekis and Charlie Day as better actors to play Rusty and I agree 100%.

BHWW - 2015-05-11

I understand that if they couldn't get Helms, their fallback option for this movie was to put his rough equivalent in the role - a hairless, diseased rodent.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-05-11

That's kind of an insult to rodents.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

Jack McBrayer

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1442113/?ref_=tt_cl_t2

would be perfect. I dunno. He just makes me laugh. But yeah, like JHM said, I'll probably catch this at a Super 8 in Florence Kentucky where the only thing to do is a liquor store, a Big Boy and Comedy Central.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-05-11

Ed Helms was very competent as Andy in THE OFFICE.Its the only thing I've seen him in since TheDailyShow. If you tell me he doesn't have the talent to redeem this, I believe you.

fluffy - 2015-05-12

Andy was a perfect character for him. This... not so much.

infinite zest - 2015-05-12

Oh yeah I forgot he was even on the Daily Show or The Office. This doesn't seem right though. Rusty was pretty much the opposite of Clark, sort of a manifestation of the rage that was boiling underneath Clark's everydad persona. Then again, Rusty can magically age in both directions so maybe he saw his future self and changed his ways.

spikestoyiu - 2015-05-11

Ed Helms and cannibalized jokes. Nope.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

The Hangcation

Lurchi - 2015-05-11

could not care less but here's the original John Hughes short story from National Lampoon:

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-05-11

You know there have been a lot of redneck themed father-daughter incest jokes in movies before but I don't think I've ever seen a father-son incest joke until now. It's nice to see that Hollywood is trying new things.

spikestoyiu - 2015-05-11

I blame SJWs for insisting that incest and pedophilia jokes in movies also include LGBT relationships. Actually, it's about ethics in National Lampoon movies.

sasazuka - 2015-05-11

I think it only looks like it won't be the worst VACATION movie if you're including that made-for-TV Randy Quaid Hawaiian VACATION one and wasn't there also a made-for-TV Christmas Vacation II?

I knew the moment they showed them in water that it would be some sort of sewage treatment pond, because if it wasn't, it wouldn't be in the trailer.

Cpme to think of it, a new Randy Quaid VACATION movie made now that he's gone full tinfoil might actually be funny.

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

Yeah I was wondering about that. Isn't he in exile?

infinite zest - 2015-05-11

In fairness, I did see Vegas Vacation in the theatre many moons ago, and caught it again in a hotel because nothing else was on. If it had had an R rating, it could've been a lot better. The jokes are there; they're just hiding or sleeping.

sasazuka - 2015-05-11

I'd put Vegas just below European in the hit-and-miss category, some bits funny, many other bits not so much.

The original Vacation and Christmas Vacation are still golden.

sasazuka - 2015-05-11

Oh, I should have looked up Christmas Vacation 2, it's one and the same as the Randy Quaid Hawaiian Vacation TV-movie I was thinking of. Only it wasn't Hawaii, it was some South Pacific island that isn't specified, and IMDb only gives "Los Angeles" as a filming location.

RockBolt - 2015-05-12

The redlettermedia guys suffered though Christmas Vacation 2, it seemed to break them

http://redlettermedia.com/best-of-the-worst-christmas-special/

Christmas Vacation 2 part starts at 34:40

That guy - 2015-05-12

This is a perfect 2 star video. All future 2-star ratings by me will be judged by this standard.

CrazyBlueRocket - 2015-05-12

Didnt want to agree with you. I was looking for 5 star evil, but just ended up with a pain in my gut. And that was just from being drunk and old

Jet Bin Fever - 2015-05-12

Well rated. I try to use the 2 star as much as I can as well.

Anaxagoras - 2015-05-12

I'm a joiner.
