I've smoked a lot of weed with a lot of people in my 33 years on planet earth, and I've never come across this stereotype of a stoner. I guess it's kind of like having a lot of gay friends but not knowing a single "FAAAAAABULOUS" kinda guy.. maybe I've just been lucky. Although I would like to have a really flamboyant gay friend to hang out with. Maybe they sell them at stores. Anyway, pot's going to be completely legal in Oregon in like a month now, and I really don't know how I feel about it, especially in the wake of what just happened in Washington, where y'all probably know it's been legal for I think a year. They just dealt with their first case of vehicular manslaughter involving marijuana, which is still considered a DUI. The man who was killed was not using a crosswalk when he was hit, but the other man, while not drunk, had a THC level that is over the "legal limit" while driving. A.), I have no idea how they measure that. You can be a seasoned alcoholic and handle 6 beers like a pro, or one beer can get you fucked up, but the blood alcohol level will be the same in both people, save for a small potential difference when considering metabolism. Weed just effects everyone differently. A single puff can get you really high, or you can take 25 dabs in a row like this guy. B.), the guy was sentenced to 6 MONTHS in prison. 6 months. For hitting and killing a human being while intoxicated on weed. Yes, any of us could be driving and someone walks into traffic and we hit them, but I doubt if the sentence would've been so lenient if it was alcohol and not weed.

The other thing too is the sheer number of people who are going to do it, possibly for the first time on their own. At least in my experience, most people don't "smoke weed" even though they smoke weed. Meaning, they smoke when a bowl is passed around, but don't actively seek it out, because, although easier to find than some drugs, is still something that doesn't just arrive at your doorstep and you have to know people, etc. etc. So now that you can just buy it at the store, a lot of the puffpuff pass kids will be getting high at home, probably alone, and getting much more fucked up than anything they're used to. And THEN go for a drive or a bike ride to meet up with their friends, and you know the rest. It's kind of like when you first turned 21, or whatever the legal age to drink is in your neck of the world. Before 21, unless you had a cool older friend who liked to hang out with younger kids, that bottle of vodka was a sacred thing. But when you turned 21 it's like "fuck yeah I can buy ten of these motherfuckers myself" and you drink them all in one night and learn your lesson, hopefully. I dunno, I just hope people know the consequences before they partake in the green.
