I vividly remember having nightmares about Alf, without ever having seen more than a commercial as a kid.

It's more German than I expected.

I vividly remember Alf, but not the sort of incredibly awesome theme song that went along with it, just the short intro from the cartoon. What do you think? Was the sax man playing this in the studio with sunglasses on, or not?

I currently own one Alf hand puppet that I got at Burger King as a kid, two vintage Alf tee shirts (a Christmas one and a weird Alf/Rough Riders Motorcycle Club cross-promotion shirt from 1989 with ALF riding a Harley), an Alf record and an amateur hand-crocheted Alf tapestry that has a pictureof Alf in achef's had carrying a cooked cat on a platter, with a menu full of dishes that are all cat/food puns.

Obviously anything Alf gets my stars

About 6 years ago I had a roommate who also had some good Alf swag and we really did up the kitchen with it.

I'll trade you a stussy hat and some hypercolors for an alf shirt. I'll throw some corduroy jncos with a built in double wallet chain and cartoon kangaroo patch peeking out the back pocket to sweeten the deal.

i had a surfboarding alf doll, but my dog ate it.

One of my prized possessions is an original Alf doll that talks when you squeeze its belly. He's awesome.

That stuff is probably worth a goldmine on eBay.

Kinda unrelated but that reminded me to look up popples on eBay. I had lots and lots of popples, because I liked Alf. They were these cute little things that you could roll up into a ball and kick or throw around. Looks like they go for about 50 bucks a piece now!

I just realized how much more laugh tracks stick out like a sore thumb when the dialog is in a language you can't understand.

infinite zest - 2015-05-26

I took one semester of German to fulfill some language requirement in college, so I'm maybe at 20% understanding here. What's great is the metaphors I remember for things like eating cats and the jokes that make it OK are missing. It's just a very literal description about how he is going to put a cat inbetween two slices of bread and devour it, saying this to himself when nobody else is around. Ah, Germans.

I'll give this 5 if you promise to leave the tags exactly how they look right now.
