It's a list that's been repeated for decades now. I agree with each and every one, but I don't think one of those things will happen in my career's lifetime.
This is right and true, and I agree with it, but it doesn't really get to the heart of the issue. America's problems with education are really a symptom of poverty and income inequality (he touches on it, but in a roundabout way). As long as America's economic system is unfair to the vast majority, its educational system will be as well.
Yeah, this was all good practical ideas in the service of questionable ideological assumptions.

1. Quit with the anti-educationism.
We don't need no book learnin', kids these days don't have any street smarts an' don't know how to follow their gut feeling!


I was worried this was going to turn into a tech-evangelist trying to promote gutting public schools & getting everyone into (necessarily private) MOOCs.

I'm actually reasonably happy to see people on the "left" (such as this is) crushing nuance to convince people. The right-wingers do it way too often, and unfortunately it works.
