Ugh. A reminder that pot becomes legal in Oregon in a few weeks. I mean, weed's great. It's great for listening to music or taking hikes, etc. but what I forsee is this sort of Mad Men thing where instead of drinking at work everyone's smoking weed. And I've smoked plenty of weed at different jobs, like a record store or a co-op, but I wouldn't at other jobs, and people who might actually be trying pot for the first time could be smoking at construction sites and airports.. oh yeah I refuelled the plane.. I think so no it's cool. Basically I don't want to fly out of Portland International anymore D:

Even if it was legal to smoke at a job, it's kind of a waste of weed. Do that shit after work. When I worked at the clock factory in berkeley, you could get away with it - but the price you paid was having a shitty day at work wondering if everyone thinks you're high. I did it like, two - three times tops. Each time remembering vividly once I got INTO work how un-fun it actually is when there's shit to do.

Not to mention - legal consumption isn't the same as legal everywhere. The same as alcohol - you could also be cited (still) for public intoxication. You're also legally required to not operate heavy machinery in the same regard - here in California that's one of the explicit things you agree to when registering. Legality in Washington and potentially Oregon still comes with restrictions - I would think it's still up to the companies to fire someone who shows up drunk to work the same as someone who shows up high. Or gets intoxicated at the job.

Obviously there's some discretion involved - but the likelihood of your boss being OK with you getting stoned at work drops rapidly when you go from head shop employee to working for a company that may be liable for people being put in direct harm if you are high on the job.

I know tons and tons of idiots that would regularly smoke at work. I'm with zest on this one.

I don't condone either one, but I would say that I'd rather my airplane pilot was drunk like they are often are than high. That's subjective: a lot of people say they drive better when they're high. And what happened to me? I sat at an intersection through like 3 red lights! I was lucky that the person behind me probably knew I was high or just a bad driver and honked. Problem is that unlike DUIs marijuana related injuries don't really have a jurisdiction yet: up in Seattle a guy was high and hit and killed a pedestrian, who didn't have the right of way it's true, but was sentenced 6 months for vehicular manslaughter. I'm guessing if a drop of alcohol was in his system that sentence would've been that number times six. Right now pot's something that's joked about, even by the president, but unlike alcohol it's subjective in a way that alcohol is not: sure, give me 300 beers and I'm probably dead the way the way that Andre The Giant could still wrestle, but nobody knows exactly what pot does, with things like ABVs and such.

basically it's really good shit or it's really schwag shit. And I know the strains. That's still the barometer pot's working with, legal or not.

the fact is its still against federal law so technically they can still fire you and you still get in a lot of trouble just for it showing in a drug test even if it is 'legal' in your state :/

Is his little bong thing supposed to look like a Starbucks frappucino cup?

A coworker of mine freaked out and called me on his shift because he left a red bull can bong out on the porch.. I figure nobody I work with will read this so it's cool.. I was mostly disappointed because I made better bongs during high school under much more surveillance and he's a year older than me. I mean, what the fuck the house is full of apples. Eat the goddamn evidence. Jeez

Or, my shift.

I wanted to try marijuana but no longer do. These guys ruined it for me.
Gmork - 2015-06-10
What an outstandingly stupid logical fallacy.

Chancho - 2015-06-10
Marijuana is a gateway drug.

There's having a glass of wine and there's shelfing vodka. You're understandably turned off.
