Repeated batterings I said, what the hell is that supposed to mean?

fluffy - 2015-06-17

He... sure seemed chipper about... stuff.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-06-18

Are there still people who insist he's innocent?

EvilHomer - 2015-06-18

Of course he's innocent! He was never proven guilty.

Did he do it? Maybe. But it is an inarguable fact that he is innocent so far as this crime was concerned.

Old_Zircon - 2015-06-18

Innocence is a very complex social contract.

Prickly Pete - 2015-06-18

If it happened in 2015 it would be a hate crime to even suggest he did it.

EvilHomer - 2015-06-18

Ooooh, it's not THAT complex. A man is innocent until proven guilty! OJ was not proven guilty, ergo he is innocent. Simple enough.

Of course, on a functional level there is more to the social contract of innocence, particularly (in the case of both OJ himself and the post-OJ era that was to be his legacy) regarding the nature of "trials by media", reputation, and justice-as-spectacle. But nevertheless, on a theoretical level, innocence is perfectly straightforward and easy to understand.

Potrod - 2015-06-18

I'm pretty sure Binro meant "Are there still people who insist he didn't do it?" and that you're arguing over semantics.

Old_Zircon - 2015-06-18

"EvilHomer
Ooooh, it's not THAT complex. A man is innocent until proven guilty!"

No comment necessary.

infinite zest - 2015-06-18

I was pretty young when the trial, chase, everything happened and I never really researched it further, kinda like "did Mike Tyson really rape that girl" the way I could objectively view something like "Did Bill Cosby do the same thing" now. I guess I thought he was innocent because that's what the jury said.

TeenerTot - 2015-06-19

Well, if y'all want to get technical--No, he's not "innocent." He's actually "not guilty." The jury found him "not guilty."

1:02 in and I can't watch anymore. Here are five evil stars for you.

Old_Zircon - 2015-06-18

"This is about me"

Sums it all up.

Monkey Napoleon - 2015-06-18

I have scoured the internet for a pirated ebook or audiobook of this a couple of times now to no avail, because fuck putting money in this guys pocket.

Seems like it might be time to look again if excerpts are showing up on yt.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-06-18

Wouldn't any money that goes into Simpson's pocket go to the Goldman family?

Monkey Napoleon - 2015-06-18

I could be wrong, but I sort of vaguely remember there being a ton of controversy about that.

I just looked it up, and yeah... out of the .5 million judgement the Goldmans have received less than 1%, which hasn't been enough to pay their lawyers fees. They wound up purchasing the publishing rights to the book and they're the ones who put it out in an attempt to deny that income to OJ.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-06-18

You really have to scour the internet looking for it these days, because the Goldmans got sue crazy when they found out it had been leaked online back in the day. There are a few torrents of the pre-release version that was leaked to the internet that doesn't have the added commentary from the Goldmans. Below is a working link. It's actually quite fascinating to read.

I think I have the ebook on a hard drive someplace still, I never could read it. It's probably with my pirated ebook of Tyra Banks' novel.
