You mean to say they weren't exploiting the evil microtransaction market until now?! That is honestly shocking.
they released this months ago for free on the 3DS with all the same microtransactions
sonic dash was addicting as hell, but yeah i never sank a cent into that
I'll never pay for microtransactions, but this is a mobile phone spin-off game. I'm a luddite who doesn't play games on smartphones.
As long as microtransactions don't become a big thing on the eventual successor to the 3DS, I'm not really that concerned.
You can play the exact same game on the 3DS, with microtransactions. How is this different?
Oh, I didn't know that.
I don't think I'd buy that game if I had a 3DS (still want to get one) because I like paying for games once when I buy them and then never paying again. I mean, unless it's like BEJEWELED BLITZ on Facebook that lets you play unlimited free rounds without having to wait 10 minutes for another free game token like most of the other PopCap/EA Facebook games require you to do.
The consumerist shit designed to extract money from children has become fractionally more efficient oh no what is the world coming to.
I've had to fight for refunds for Pokemon and other shit for some of my clients. In a way it can be seen as a good life lesson for kids kind of like getting your first overdraft fee but these are folks with less cognitive function to know yes from no and they blow their whole social security money on it.
Don't forget gambling addicts.
Casinos are at least forced to give gambling addiction warnings, while most of the microtransaction games/Valve just do a sale.
For kids, you have to do a refund if they overspend without mommy knowing...but if an addict spends ,000 on your shitty game to get a purple widget from a rare purple lottery box, you don't have to refund shit.
Yeah, I work with adults with developmental disabilities. All this stuffs a grey area.
This is the worst kept secret in the universe. For years Nintendo was like WE WILL NEVER MAKE A MOBILE GAME EVER HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST IT WHO EVEN USES PHONES HEY DID YOU NOTICE WE'RE RAPING OUR OLD FRANCHISES AGAIN FOR SOME MORE GARBAGE ON THE WIIU???
Then they suddenly, out of nowhere, actually started giving a shit about all the ripped off Nintendo assets, artwork, Pokemon clones and shit that were all over the market place and actually started doing legal stuff which was pretty much them admitting "Yeah, we're making an iOS Pokemon game."
Fuck Nintendo. They made promise after promise that they'd never give into DLC, season pases, microtransations, mobile shovel-ware and all this other bullshit, and now they're doing it worse than anyone else in the industry is, especially with their physical DLC AMIIBO bullshit. I mean it's not that I'm surprised, I'm just saddened.
Speaking of which, doesn't this mark the first time ever a first-party Nintendo title is being released on a platform that isn't theirs?
I think so, unless you count Tetris, which was basically Gameboy's original flagship game before pocket monsters..
Shit franchise, shit platform. It stinks.
who fucking cares? Stop buying thier stupid rehashes if you don't like it.
I'm excited to see the mental gymnastics Nintendo fans will perform in an attempt to spin this into a positive.
|Sanest Man Alive |
Nintendo's put out DLC expansions for games like Fire Emblem before (and I understand the upcoming FE is even being sold in halves, Pokemon-style, for maximum profit, which actually does annoy me), so this isn't really surprising. It's shitty, but given that this is still their biggest cash cow property, it's expected shitty.
