I want you to do this as soon as your feet heals too, 'cuz I sure as hell ain't doing it!

memedumpster - 2015-07-21

Watch on mute, this song makes Nickelback sound like Dimmu Borgir.

Be sure to take a time lapse camera and 60000 batteries with you! A time lapse version of this would rock, and probably qualify you for an Oscar.

Heh.. funny you should mention Dimmu Borgir. The bar I hobble up to has an open kitchen and they blast metal out of there, I think most of which is DB, often over stuff like Death Cab For Cutie or whatever's being played on the jukebox. The combination is great. I guess workers comp isn't so bad but I wanna get back to work, and at the same time say "fuck society" and just do this whole thing, all the way down. I could pick up odd jobs on the side like trimming too.

Interestingly I looked it up; I actually played a show with this band. They sound a lot different live and I kind of liked them.

infinite zest - 2015-07-21

Oh wait! Not the same band! It was Builders and Butchers, not Builders. These guys still suck!

5 months of walking

pretty, though

I can imagine those hardy soul that have thru hiked both this and the Appalachian Trail will never. Ever. Shut Up. About it.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-07-21

Who the fuck can afford to drop out for five months to walk a nature trail?

memedumpster - 2015-07-21

Mountain climbers.

Raggamuffin - 2015-07-21

If it's anything like the one that runs the North-South down the Appalachians, where the trail comes near towns there are people who make a hobby of supporting the hikers with food/medical/temporary shelter.

I hiked the AT just through VT. One guy I met quit his job as a forklift operator because he didn't want to spend the rest of his life doing mundane bullshit. Met lot's of retired folks in their 60s. Some from Europe. Friend of mine did the whole thing and wrote a book about it. He's a writer so that's his job.

Most folks I saw just did it. For lots of reasons. Most not rich. But you do need to drop down at least 00 for gear.

Cool! A lot of it I have covered. I've been saving up to go somewhere. When I got kicked out of my last apartment I just went back home and then got injured on the job so I've had a lot of time to think, and, well, save up for an adventure. Whereto, who knows? But I've always wanted to do this while I'm still on the west coast.

cognitivedissonance - 2015-07-21

I intend to do it, but watch out in some places because it goes into deep, dank Heart of Darkness Meth Country.

fedex - 2015-07-21

stay away from mah still/lab!!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-07-21

You would think Bigfoot would be enough to scare off the drug lab makers, but I guess drugs really fuck people up that way.

memedumpster - 2015-07-21

Kentucky uses armed patrols in some Taliban militia style shit. Watch your ass.
