THE LONE GUNMEN'S CANCELLATION WAS AN INSIDE JOB

For whatever it's worth, the Lone Gunmen were killed off towards the end of the original "X-Files" run, so I'm going to guess they'll look all decomposey by the time of the "X-Files" revival.

seriously? did they get exploded in fight the future too?

http://x-files.wikia.com/wiki/Jump_the_Shark

It always bothered me that, at the LGs' funeral, Scully claimed to have cared a great deal about them. Horseshit, she considered them occasionally useful weirdos and that's it. It's one thing to polish the record of the deceased at a funeral, but polishing your own is an asshole move.

Actually, poking around the X-files Wiki, I came across the following pieces of information:

"The Gunmen briefly reappeared several months {after being exploded}, as ghosts with whom Mulder seemed to be able to communicate. (TXF: "The Truth") "

and

"In the comic book adaptation of the series The X-Files Season 10—which takes place after the events of The X-Files: I Want to Believe—it is revealed that the Lone Gunmen are alive and well, having faked their deaths during the events of "Jump the Shark. The group was aided by the FBI and have since been working underground, aiding the US government"

BiggerJ
Chris Carter has said that the new miniseries will have nothing to to with Season 10's plotline. However, he's never made a statement about whether it's still canon. I wonder if he'll contradict it, and if so, if he'll go out of his way to do so in what TVTropes calls Armed With Canon.

infinite zest
I misread the title and thought TPB were replacing The Lone Gunmen. Seriously all these shows, LEAVE IT ALONE! I understand that a lot of people probably got into X-Files because of Breaking Bad and were too young to remember the original, same thing with Twin Peaks.

But X-Files ruined itself. The movies were horrible and the story was told up to the point where they had to use weird time paradoxes and things. And that's cool, but just make something new! Oh wait you did and it was called Breaking Bad. I doubt if many people, including myself, whose favorite show for years was the X-Files, wants to see any more X-Files.

No, DO EXACTLY THE THING INFINITE ZEST THOUGHT WAS HAPPENING BUT ISN'T! "So this Amernican guy came to the park other day, he said he was from the FBI and wanted to know about a Samsqanch or aliens or some other shit, so I wonder, what if this guy is just trying to spy on my dope trailer? ... Oh shit, what if there's a Samsquanch after my dope?"

Bonus points if the Cigarette-Smoking Man gets replaced by an even more mysterious figure in shadows, whom we know very little about except he's always taking "a little drinkie-poo" and warning about shit-related natural disasters.

See cuz I'd watch that show.

fedex

"We got shit aliens, the worst kind of shit."

I was hoping that TPB would just do something like go into space for whatever reason; I love that show, but like X-Files, it jumped the shark. In fact both shows have an episode referencing jumping the shark, or cheeseburger, if you will. The new ones are still kinda funny but it's getting into that Simpsons territory, where they should've quit with the spinoff spectacular and literally taken the show in that direction.

Old_Zircon
I feel like season 6 was slipping but season 7 I couldn't get through. It wasn't awful but it wasn't the same. Did they ever end up getting the weed across the border on that toy train? Still, 5 really good seasons and a 6th decent one is an impressive run for a TV show, very few of them make it past season 4 without getting pretty bad (including the X Files although it was still completely entertaining for a long time after it got bad)

I misread the title and thought TPB had predicted 9/11.

Old_Zircon
I found out about this and almost submitted it just a couple days before it went in the hopper. CONSPIRACY?
