This is really, really awful quality. Just a forewarning. Nothing against the submitter or anything (because this is one of those weird movies that has never been re-released or revisited), but yeah....this is bad.

infinite zest - 2015-07-27

I skipped around and it gets better after the first 2 minutes I saw. I wanna watch the whole thing later but I have important business to attend to.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-27

Don't be scared off, it's bad but not THAT bad. The transfer is pretty poor but the Youtube compression isn't too severe and at least it's 480p.

But yeah, you should probably just find a torrent of it if you want to watch it.

Incidentally, the friend of mine who first told me about this movie actually went to grade school with the granddaughter of the woman who plays The Electric Grandmother. She told me the movie seriously creeped her out as a kid, and she had no idea her friend had any connection to it until one time when she went over and The Electric Grandmother came to the door because she was visiting for the weekend. Which of course scared the crap out of her (probably not literally but who knows).

The main issue with this transfer seems to be that the framerate is weird. IT isn't out of sync or slow, it's more like the "strobe" effect on an old camcorder but not as extreme.

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-27

Probably the sync signal on the tape was weak and this is how the capture device handled it. Which is why it' worth the money to get a good timebase corrector on eBay if you do much VHS capture, the price of them is really low right now (mine retailed for over 00 less than a decade ago but cost about on eBay last year and is in perfect condition - since everyone went digital, mid grade pro analogue video equipment is worthless on the secondhand market; around the same time I got a basic blackburst generator for in essentially new condition ad it's still in production for over 0; it's a VERY good time to put together the mid 90s public access studio of your dreams)

Wasn't this a twilight zone episode?

Old_Zircon - 2015-07-28

That was based on the same Bradbury story.

infinite zest - 2015-07-29

Yes! That's where I remember it from. Not that I was trying to figure this out all day or anything. OK I was.

kamlem - 2015-07-28

I own this on VHS. Protip: Don't pull electric grandmother's finger.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-07-28

Coming soon on VHS, Grandma II: Electric Boogaloo.
