Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-02

There are also some really creepy abandoned hotels in part 2

https://youtu.be/Z2gdZcethVk

1:45 to 4:40

The first one looks like someone is keeping it up in terms of the carpet at least, but it's totally empty. The second one is falling apart and the roof has collapsed. I'm not kidding when I say this is a horror movie bonanza.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-02

Most of the first video shows the way it used to look and then about 4 minutes in it starts to show the current ruin. Part 2 might be better for just a creepiness factor.

RedHood - 2015-08-02

Welp now I have to go there I guess. #Roadtrip.

Meerkat - 2015-08-02

Brought to you by lonely elderly people who just wanted someone to talk to.

Call your parents more often! They care about talking and stuff!

Binro the Heretic - 2015-08-02

People could have been living there.

Why don't we just give places like this to whoever wants them? Just tell them they can live there for free as long as they keep it up to code. Let them have a roof over their heads, a place to plant vegetables and raise chickens.

Isn't that how we got white people to go West?

SolRo - 2015-08-02

I get the feeling it's more likely to become a high-rise meth lab than any kind of utopian farming commune.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-02

All of the property has been purchased now by third parties looking to renovate it and reuse it, but who the hell knows if any of it will ever turn a profit again. The megachurch industry was never very good at keeping this game up for very long. People's enthusiasm tends to slip after a while. It's like, why bother pretending this is as good as a beachfront property with hot college students wandering around playing in the surf?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-02

"Evangelical meth lab" has kind of a nice ring to it

Binro the Heretic - 2015-08-02

I wasn't thinking of it becoming a utopian farming commune or anything of the sort.

How many working-class families do you know who would be more than happy to be given a chance at a free home? They could still have jobs, but without having to worry about making rent or mortgage every month, think what they could do.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2015-08-02

A nice thought, but my guess is that it's in the middle of nowhere and near nothing useful.

This isn't a town waiting to happen, it's a pointless development that never should have existed in the first place.

Appropriate soundtrack on the videos, though.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-08-03

If by the middle of nowhere you mean Fort Mill, South Carolina, then yes.

jangbones - 2015-08-02

I live pretty close to this place, now I want to go

I have heard some pretty amazing stories about Bakker from people who used to work at PTL. A king sized choad.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2015-08-02

Wasn't this the song that played during the season finale to Hannibal? You know, when he was walking around disemboweling everyone?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-08-03

Jim Bakker was a piece of shit rapist. Tammy Faye was actually pretty cool. She was surprisingly gay positive and only too happy to poke fun at herself. Anybody remember her cameo on the Drew Carey Show, as Mimi's mom?

spikestoyiu - 2015-08-03

I can't tell what the deal is with Tammy Faye. She had to be at least partially complicit in all of the shady PTL shit, right? But every time I've seen her, post-divorce at least, she's seemed like a genuinely great person. Her documentary was great and she was so likable while on the Surreal Life that even Vanilla Ice loved her.

Straight off the cut scenes from some BioShock game.
