Chris Farley as Shrek, my life is now complete!

I have no dog in this fight because I think Shrek stinks, but am I crazy or does this suck? He sounds too childlike.

The brilliance of Chris Farley was that he would throw absolutely everything into his performance. There were no low keys. Emotions like sadness, boredom, and ennui were still cranked up to the maximum. Listening to this is like no Chris Farley I remember. It absolutely sucks.

The original concept for Shrek is that he was a teenager and he recorded the original dialog as such before the movie was changed after his death.

Umm.. it was a kids' movie.. I mean not that I really care myself but if I had a choice I would've gone with this over Mike Meyers' Fat Bastard Impression #5. But I've got better things to do so I'm gonna put on my sunglasses and listen to smashmouth and walk around to somewhere important.

I don't think it sucks, but comparing it to Myers is the problem. Say what you will about Shrek, Myers does have an amazing ability to create something memorable, and this isn't.

This was also near the very end of his life and he was probably distracted by all the drugs he was on. His performance most likely suffered from that.

I've got less than no interest in Shrek but I only recently learned the character is from a series of picture books from the late 80s. They look pretty good, actually, the art is a bit reminiscent of Quentin Blake.

To be fair, Mike Meyers' version had way better animation.

I like this better than Simon Peg's version.

You know what's even better, the LA Times is claiming that The Day The Clown Cried has been submitted to the library of congress and may be available to watch there ten years from now.
Sanest Man Alive - 2015-08-07
How much do you think it would take to bribe a Smithsonian employee to rip and torrent it for the rest of us?

Hooker - 2015-08-07
At this point, there's no way the film can live up to its reputation.

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-08
Do you have a link to the claim? I can't find it.

Old_Zircon - 2015-08-08
Never mind, found it.
