I wonder what happens to people like this who star in pilots or have a brief stint on show business and then fade away. Do they get normal jobs like the rest of us or do they off themselves because their quest for Hollywood fame and fortune fizzled out.

I actually do remember this from when I was a kid. I was always confused why the two women seemed to be doing a weirdly rehearsed vaudeville routine while every other character just stood around awkwardly waiting for their various wacky rants to wind down, but I gather now they originally were some sort of stand-up duo or something.
