I dunno, I remember taking a long video of The Knitters once, mostly because at the time I thought it was the closest I'd come to seeing X, and wanted to capture it. But this was before the iPhone was even invented and I sure as hell wouldn't have taken it if anybody else was behind me. And I took a few pictures at a Dead Moon concert, because it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I can't remember if it was someone on this site who said it, or someone on TV, or maybe it was me and I don't remember, but imagine if everybody had smartphones at Woodstock. You still get the documentary and some amateur film, but that's just scratching the surface of what apparently went on there, which are now just stories. And plus we get full coverage of the Gathering of the Juggalos! So I say keep filming and taking pictures, but yeah don't be a dick and hold up your phone so the people behind you are more drawn to your shitty, shaky video than they are with what's going on stage..

Except that they make it impossible to see the show when you're all at a ground level and tons of people are doing it because they're idiots. Last time I was at a concert where people were doing this en masse, I just spit on their screens. Then they all got their asses kicked in a mosh pit, so...job well done I guess.

Yes, someone holding a bright glowing object in front of you in a darkened space couldn't possibly bother anybody.
