Yeah! Gremlins 2 was my jam when I was like 10. I remember seeing the VHS tracking version first which really freaked me out, and then saw a "theatrical" cut with the brain wrap and Hulk Hogan. I always wondered if they made a separate DVD version with a typical DVD glitch..

I saw it in the theaters, and every single person, myself included, assumed that the film had actually broken until the shadow puppets started. That whole sequence, Hulkster included, was one of the best movie experiences of my life.

My mom took me to see Gremlins when it came out, about 15 minutes in, she asked if I wanted to see a different movie instead, so we left and snuck into another theatre where Top Secret had just started. Best mom ever.

There were some deeply fucked up PG movies in the 70s. I'm pretty sure The Touch of Satan was originally PG (that's what my old VHS tape said anyhow) and it has at least one graphic impaling. Plenty of PG rated movies with casual full frontal nudity back then, too, but that's only weird in the USA.

But if you make that "since Temple of Doom" then that's another story.
