John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-10-29

Also, the movie in the hopper is "City of the Living Dead", not "City of the Living" Sorry about that.

Fuck it, I'm giving my own submission five stars because I'm tired of seeing it sit there starless, and because I've been wanting to know how to pronounce Lucio Fulci's name for 20 years.

infinite zest - 2015-10-29

The first name makes sense.. kind of like "Medici," which sounds like "med-ee-chee" but the last name.. where's that extra "I" coming from? Maybe Lucio will rise from the grave to give us the answer!

Doc Victor - 2015-10-30

But John, don't you always give your own videos five stars?

Gmork - 2015-10-29

That... wasn't different at all from how it appears. What's the point of this exactly?

infinite zest - 2015-10-29

Because I say it like Gee-Mork that's why!

I bet Evil homer two dollars that I could get you to ask me a really stupid question.

Look, it was no surprise. Without any Italian, I probably could have guessed that, but it would have been a guess. I'd much rather mangle it with an Anglicized pronunciation, than try to pronouce the italian without really knowing, and come off as a pretentious douche.

Of course, it's not a name that comes up in my everyday conversation.

mon666ster - 2015-10-30

I've always said "Looch-ee-ooo", so this was helpful. You don't hear it said out loud often, as horror fans usually just say "Fulci".

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check "Takashi Miike" and "Edwige Fenech".

infinite zest - 2015-10-30

I'll try to tackle Jodorowsky and Kusturica..

EvilHomer - 2015-10-31

Japanese names aren't so tough, just so long as you remember the vowel sounds: "ah ee oo eh oh" (a i u e o), and to speak in a staccato rhythm, giving every syllable (known as "mora") the same amount of time.

No clue on "Edwige Fenech", though. Edvig FenEK?

yogarfield - 2015-10-30

"The sweetest sound in the world is the person's own name" is one of the most idiotically saccharine things I have ever read.
