At the request of Mr. Depp, every time Alice is about to say something, she must be shoved off-camera by the Mad Hatter, who then shouts a catchphrase and does a little dance.

I'm kinda looking forward to this.

I cannot justify my opinion in any way.

It's because of Borat, isn't it?

Aelric - 2015-11-08
Wait, so the first Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland was did well enough for a sequel? Really? I thought that was a flop.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-11-08
It made over a billion dollars at the box office worldwide. Some of the highest foreign sales for that year.

gravelstudios - 2015-11-08
I know. My mom got it on DVD and I watched it and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I guess we're getting to the point where the movie industry is more concerned with worldwide ticket sales rather than just America.

There goes Disney once again making huge profits from the public domain, so they can continue to pay layers and polititians to prevent anything new from becoming public domain.

Oh, Cena. Copyright laws NEED to be strong, in order to ensure that creators get compensated for their work. Why, if Disney weren't entitled to a hundred years of intellectual property protection, then director James Bobin wouldn't stand to make several hundred million dollars in tickets, online rentals, and merchandise sales!

Because as the film's creator, that is what James Bobin, the famous director, will surely receive. Several hundred million dollars.

You know Sonichu could have become a reality, but thanks to the Trans Pacific Partnership, Japan will extend the length of copyright protections to match ours. Otherwise it would have just been 50 years after the original creation.

Oh goody. Another movie Tim Burton didn't direct but will end up getting credit for.

Looking forward to this movie just for the music and costumes, although it looks like they're re-using a bunch of them for some reason.

He makes sure black and white stripes get in the film. That way we can all know it's his brilliant vision.

By the visionary director of the that Muppets movie nobody saw and Da Ali G Show.

Bobbin also did pretty much all of Flight of the Conchords though. The one where they accidentally take acid is kind of trippy? Whatever, the first film sucked, I don't see how this one could be any better.

I saw the first one with my roommate back when it came out on DVD, and hoooly shit was that a shitty movie. They actually managed to shoehorn a Lord of the Rings battle at the end.
Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-11-08
I hate the ending of that movie more than food poisoning.

oddeye - 2015-11-08
Wait, is this the plot of through the looking glass? I don't remember any shit about Timelords and saving tea time.

Where is the fucking train??
Quad9Damage - 2016-06-27
The chapter "A Mad Tea-Party" (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland) mentions that the Hatter and his friends have been cursed by Time to have tea at the same hour every evening. "Through the Looking Glass" is about chess and Charles Dodgson working through his serious issues.

Beyond that, no, none of this bombastic "Lord of the Rings" shit.

Clown vomit, some people just like it.

My issue with the Burton film is that Jan Svankmajer already out-Burtoned him with his version over 20 years earlier.
StanleyPain - 2015-11-08
I sure hope Carter is getting paid a lot of money for this because it's the last thing related to Tim Burton she'll ever be in now that they are no longer a couple. And if what happened to his last girlfriend is any measure, he will try to basically have her drummed out of Hollywood.

Rosebeekee - 2015-11-08
She'll just find a third married director to start sleeping with so she can be in his movies.

The "Alice" books were journeys through the mind of a pedophile and his romantic obsession with a real-life little girl that ended when he was kicked out of her house. There is a chapter near the end of "Through the Looking Glass" where a white knight escorts Alice to the final chess square; it has long been speculated that the knight is Charles Dodgson and the chapter a cathartic outlet for him to let Alice go.

Money has always been the motivator, I know, but American McGee and Tim Burton had to have understood that the source material was already a man's published psychosis. Reading through "Alice" and "Looking Glass" was unsettling enough because I was aware of the subtext. Covering everything in vines and making the cat scary is a silly redundancy.
