One of my professors in University was named Peter King and he was kind of a dink. Every time I see this guy I think of him.
Mr. Purple Cat Esq.
The main takeaway from this should be how pathetic IS is.
They have no state (despite their name) no industrial base, no resources, few allies, little support, and extremely potent enemies who constantly bomb their home turf.
To put the fact that they managed to kill 158 into perspective, There were 12,568 gun violence deaths in the US in 2014.
SolRo
I'm surprised Fox didn't lead with "This wouldn't have happened if everyone in France had guns"

Cena_mark
Heard that one at work yesterday.

dairyqueenlatifah
Are you trying to say that killing 158 people is no big deal?

SolRo
It isn't, not according to the lack of coverage or outrage over worse attacks in Africa/middle east.

Oh wait, rich white western people...time for a pity party.

Wonder if any American spooks are happy, off the record, like they are about the Russian jet going down, because now France will join their wars.

Cena_mark
Isn't a war exactly what these radicals want? They wouldn't do stuff like this if they wanted to be left alone. We really shouldn't be obliging them with these knee jerk calls for retaliation.

Old_Zircon
Our government has been doing this by remote control all the time for over a decade (and our pre-drone track record wasn't so hot, either).

The takeaway from this should be that in 2015 mass murder of civilians should be unacceptable no matter where it happens and who does it, and that mass support and semantic acrobatics don't change the self defeating, cyclical nature of retaliatory violence. But I'm not holding my breath for that.

dairyqueenlatifah
So mass murder of innocents is okay as long as said innocents are white people, and 158 murders in one city in a day is totally comparable with an entire nation's collective number of gun deaths in a year?

Welp. No point in arguing with the clinically insane. Later!

SolRo
Or if your gun nutter ass had any brains you could call it comparing 12000 gun deaths a year to what will probably be under 200 terrorism deaths a year.

Actually you're too stupid to even comprehend what I wrote. You're too dumb and obsessed with the arch sanctity of white western lives for any other humans to matter.

dairyqueenlatifah
A) I'm not white.
B) I'm pro-gun control, and couldn't be further from a "gun nutter"
C) I'm not racist, like you. I value all innocent lives, not just those dictated by races that I think are worthy of my empathy and compassion
D) I've been posting here for years, and even a cursory glance at my past post would tell you're apparently brain damaged self that everything you've accused me of being ia the polar opposite of what I am
E) Thanks again for showing us all what a prejudice, racist, conclusion jumping, certifiably insane faggot you are!

Cena_mark
Come on guys, this issue isn't really worth fighting over. Save this rage for discussions about cartoons.

SolRo
I just told you how it is, but you're too much an inbred fucktard to comprehend it.

Human life is cheap. We only care about others deaths when we think it could happen to us or people we care about. That's why your utterly dumb ass doesn't really care about 12000 gun deaths but you'll prance around in this video acting outraged, because you think you'll never be killed in a gun crime but you are afraid a terrorist attack might get you (statistically a car crash is much more likely)

Even Obama called this "an attack on the civilized world", like all of the countries ISIS has been attacking until now are the uncivilized world of barbarians, a world where human lives don't matter.

EvilHomer
I'm just going to re-post this here.

Chris has a far healthier attitude than many other people do.

Look, SolRo, to French people, French lives seem more important to foreign lives. Ditto Americans, and, believe it or not, ditto Muslims and such. It's an unavoidable part of human nature: there is no objective position when it comes to these matters. I expect governments to act more or less in accordance with their interests, so when Paris gets shot up, Raqqa gets bombed. It's messy, and even high-tech bombs miss their targets sometimes, but given the available options, I'm more or less cool with this. You can go on about how the death toll at that Cambodian restaurant doesn't really compare to the Valparaiso earthquake of I-don't-know-when, but, generally speaking, foreign relations are decided by humans, so statistically minded automatons, so that's not a bad place to start thinking about foreign policy. Or is Russian nationalism the only issue on which I'm allowed to get all teary about?

Anyway, Obama's recognition that what happened yesterday in Paris was somehow important does not, believe it or not, mean that America simply doesn't care about what happens in the Middle East. We care, as Faith No More put it, a lot. It's been a foreign-policy priority since about forever. When a bomb goes off in Basra, a news item appears on the President's desk. You wanna know whose lives don't matter to us at all? See our reactions to say, the Rwandan genocide.

>>Are you trying to say that killing 158 people is no big deal?

He's saying that it's less of a big deal that 12 thousand. The math seems to check out.

I know that "BUSH IRAQ WAR CHENEY DUHR." sounds like gibberish, but I did a little googling, and according to wikipedia, there was an invasion of Iraq in 2003 spearheaded by the United States under the Bush Administration, overthrowing the government of Saddam Hussein Since Iraq is where Isis is now located, it's possible there could be some relationship. It's also possible that jihadists thrive on military intervention.

For more on the invasion of Iraq, visit your local library.

Xenocide
I for one am outraged at the implication that 12,000 is a bigger number than 200. If you believe that, you love terrorism.

Cena_mark
ISIS are Bush and Cheney's children. The invasion of Iraq was almost 13 years ago. An Isis fighter of today may have likely been a child hiding in his basement from the shock and awe back in 2003.

You'll never believe this one weird trick to exterminate ISIS!

Ahh yes, and predictably, we have to have regressive leftist bullshit where we cannot confront this problem or even talk about it in realistic terms because "oh dear, the poor offended Muslims..blah blah"

You know, the foreign policy argument the regressive left is so reliant on at this point is starting to look even more and more silly when groups like ISIS are buring gay people alive and targeting total and complete innocents (yes, I'm sure the Eagles of Death Metal are a huge force for colonialism) has absolutely no connection whatsoever to any sort of foreign policy issue. But hey, I'm sure murdering atheists and stoning women and shooting children in the head is totally cool because....uh DRONES OR SOMETHING SOMETHING BUSH IRAQ WAR CHENEY DUHR.
Islamists and jihadists love you fucking pussies.
Miss Henson's 6th grade class
Wait, did someone whose opinion actually matters actually say something like this? Or did Fox just imply it so they could go off the deep end in the other direction? "That guy at the coffee shop" is not, in this context, someone who matters, nor is any POE poster.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class
Not to imply that POE poster that guy doesn't matter. I love that guy like a brother.

Xenocide
This is Fox News 101, though. Create a pretendy strawman argument, attribute it to no one ("SOME HAVE SAID we should give the Islamic refugees free immigration rights and complete control of all European governments. Could one of those people be Obama? Some have said yes!") and spend days getting angry at it.

Damn you, Guy in Coffee Shop, you've doomed America!

ashtar.
I think that we risk losing sight of what's important here. Let's talk about the real issue: Megyn Kelly is very attractive, and I totally would her despite her terrible political views and abject failure as a journalist.
SolRo
She's just a high priced whore.

She's likely smarter than that, but if you pay her enough she'll say and act outraged about whatever you like.

EvilHomer
Stop slut-shaming her, SolRo. It's Megyn Kelly's body and Megyn Kelly's life, she can do with it whatever she chooses.

Ashtar: I concur. She is very pretty. If I were a decadent Ottoman sultan, then she, Anne Coulter, Rachel Maddow, and Sarkeesian would all be offered places in my politichick harem.

EvilHomer
Question for everyone: when all this initial North American goodwill cools down a bit, and France decides to unilaterally invade Syria against the American government's wishes, what do you think the French public will begin calling Big Mac hamburgers?

Let's brainstorm. I think "Liberté Meat" would be a good choice.
Cena_mark
They might go really low and call american cheese, crap plastic cheese.

John Holmes Motherfucker
What's the French word for disgusting?
