For some reason this interview finally made me grock "Survivor's Guilt" as something other than an irrational (but common) reaction.

Those dudes survived and did little to help the large number of their fans that died. Intellectually I get that they couldn't really do anything, that it wasn't in any way their fault, etc. And yet, if I were one of them, I'd probably feel guilty.

How awful. And of course, whatever guilt I (or they) might feel, that's nothing compared to what friends & families of the deceased are feeling.

What in the Christing Fuck did you just say in those three paragraphs? I'm still trying to digest the insanity.

What would you suggest the Eagles Of Death Metal should have done (as a band) when jihadist gunmen burst into their concert and started mowing down their audience with AK-47s? Should they have ROCKED the terrorists to death?! Would that have worked, do you think?! Survivor's guilt WHAT!!!!

You are not real.

Bobonne - 2015-11-27

Christ. That was WHAT he was saying. That it's not rational. That it makes no sense. Survivor's Guilt is RARELY ever based on the survivor actually being able to do anything to save those other people that died. Just like here.

Man, chill a little. He wasn't attacking them.

Anaxagoras - 2015-11-28

Yeah. Exactly. I wasn't attacking them at all. Bobonne pretty much nailed it.

Was... was my original post that unclear? I'm confused.

In any case, yeah. I wasn't trying to stir up shit with my post. Just offering a (banal) observation, and share an experience.

Raggamuffin - 2015-11-28

Your post was fine.

Jimmy, you need to focus better.

Cena_mark - 2015-11-28

Terrorists bursting into a show and being rocked to death would make for a kick ass music video.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-11-28

As horrible as this may sound, I feel history will recall this concert as the Heaviest Metal ever performed. I feel sorry for the band for reasons well explained by Anax. But their show now stands as the high water mark for the form.

Jimmy Labatt - 2015-11-28

Spirit stars for Cena_Mark. That would be entirely kickass!

"dudes survived and did little to help the large number of their fans that died"

I guess you missed the part where they did everything they could to save people.

Anaxagoras - 2015-11-28

No, I got that part. But they couldn't do much. They were more-or-less helpless, just like the other people in the club. It was a horrible situation.

Jimmy Labatt - 2015-11-28

SO my bad, Anax; I didn't read into your comments enough, apologies. Thanks for calling me out on my bullshit, other people. I was up past my bedtime and I actually had a relative who died in that theatre, which didn't help.

Emotions tend to get involved. Anyway, good video.

The world has become a sci-fi distopia. Children of Men was right (except the part where all the women become barren).
