I heard a similar thing happen during hurricane Andrew back in the early 1990s.
The worst had passed. The winds were dying down, but not far away the winds were still high. We had stepped out on the porch to try and assess the damage.
We started hearing a loud roaring buzz. It turned out to be vibrations travelling along the high tension lines. In places where the wind was still high, the power lines were vibrating like giant reeds and all the metal support towers were humming.
It wasn't nearly as high-pitched as this, though.

I guess a silver lining of Trump becoming President is if he wants to build that wall and all and gets his way, he might not have any problems with the Cascadia movement, which would mean Oregon, Washington and BC would exist as a separate country and I wouldn't have to go get my passport renewed!

You usually see the name on microbrews and things now, but I walked by a Free Cascadia rally yesterday on my way to work. It's organized and pretty well planned out for a secession.
