This is the one that led me to The Thing 2. There's a sequel/second half to this.

Ha that's funny. I actually didn't notice Thing 2 until after I submitted it! Weird! I was just looking up Escape from Cleveland because I was wondering if anybody did anything with the fan fiction, but found this instead. If multi-part weren't broken I'd put 'em alll here but parts 2 and on are always the first thing. The more you watch, the more you realize that there's at least 2 people in the universe who think that Jack and Snake have some sort of genetic bond.. :)

IZ you're not alone. I grew up on Carpenter too and we all talked about it.

Other common discussions include: what the hell happened to all of the contractors and engineers who built David Lo Pan's lair? That level of craftsmanship requires experts who would be noticed as missing when they were inevitably killed to keep the lair's location secret.

I think Snake breaking them all out could make a decent crossover fan film.

I've never had the money nor enough badassery to insist on the bottle of Jack in a bar. Although I'm pretty sure most bartenders in this state won't do it anyway.

Yeah you could order enough shots to kiss the bottle, but only figuratively. One thing I really miss about the Midwest is Bar Dice. On slow afternoons when nobody was in the bar I'd play with the bartender all the time before I went to work (don't worry I wasn't working construction or driving or anything else where alcohol could be dangerous), and one time I got extremely lucky, probably polishing off the equivalent of a 5th of whiskey for free. Work was fun that day. I think..

But in Oregon you can't play it, since the liquor laws are much tougher for bartenders, and while being too fucked up to close the register at the end of the night might get you a slap on the wrist in Wisconsin, it's your job and license if you even come close to a single sip of beer. Bartending sober just sounds horrible.

I always hear that historically bars in Oregon were mostly "private clubs" that required you to get a 24 hour membership ("liquor license") to get in, as a way of skirting some of the liquor laws. Is that still a thing at all?
