I hadn't watched it for years but it was sad the way it went out: the shitty movie was the beginning of the end of something that lasted another decade.. or was that The Simpsons?

Back when I used to get high in college and watch this with my roommates in a halfway house, we pretty much had a Carl living above us, but a different name. We never fucked with him like this but we all shared the same patio, and he'd get off work (I think) with a 30 pack of Keystone and just sit there watching the sun set until 30 beers were consumed.

Carl's the straight man. He gives the wacky zany characters someone normal to play off of. Well, more relatable I guess is a better way to look at it? It's why Parks and Recreation and The Office is funny and Scary Movie and ilk is not.

Yeah, I think a lot of it is how funny he looks just standing there with his hands on his hips, glaring with dull dissatisfaction at the scene before him.

At least 70% of it is the voice actor's delivery, for me. Perfect, every time, if 'perfect' is 'leave me giggling helplessly every time he opens his mouth'.
