This is so great.
I found a copy of this last spring and was going to upload it myself, but at the time I was really disappointed that they didn't actually have the Turtles talking on it and never bothered. Listening to it now, I can see that I really underestimated it.
MAybe I should finally give a listen to the other tape I found in the same pile - "Get Fit, Girl!"
I don't have the box, but the label looks like it was part of some off-brand, Jem-style thing from around '86.
There's no reason why they couldn't have used th same tape for a bunch of different licensed IPs, just change the cover and some of the illustrations and you're good to go.
Actually no, I forgot that there are, in fact, kazoo versions of some of the original tracks from the TMNT movie soundtrack on here, mostly on the B side.
Oh wait.. The Gremlins ones were from either PIzza Hut or Hardees and they were storybooks, not the music. Don't know why that popped into my head. This vid seems to say they came from Hardees, but I'm still pretty sure they came from Pizza Hut..
What's weird is I realized when I was trying to figure this out I've been staring at a TMNT plastic recorder that my sorta-girlfriend got me for Christmas. Not once did I mention anything about TMNT like someone might mention their favorite color or shoe size or birthday. That's some cosmic shit right there.
The perfect commuting to work theme.
My mind is blown. The first track is a groovy jam. I'm just wondering why they had kazoo on it. I'd figure they should have just left that out for the kids to kazoo to.
Someone got paid to do kazoo covers of the TMNT Soundtrack.
Yeah.. a couple of months ago I was "DJing" a Halloween party for the place I work for (meaning hooking up my iphone to a PA system) and found some Halloween Party 4 Kidz record on iTunes. Seemed to work. They were really enthusiastic (and really good) covers of the classics you'd associate with Halloween, like Ghostbusters, Thriller, etc. but some have some really creepy guy singing over them equally enthusiastically, and not creepy in the Halloween way. :(
IZ, you want Drew's Famous Halloween Mix, it's pretty much the original versions of halloween themed pop tracks like Ghostbusters, with really crappy beats overdubbed on them with some kind of mid level, late 80s digital drum machine (HR-16 probably). There's a whole series of them and they're all like that.
Good to know! In this case I've never been in more of a rush to put something together. But now I can't get it off my fucking phone no matter how hard I try, and it's BIG too: the last track is like an hour of Halloween sound effects and I can't put my music on shuffle anymore. :(
Actually the Ghostbusters theme was instrumental, with a pretty cool synth line replacing the vocals. But there were just some weird choices, like Rock Lobster (what's that have to do with Halloween) and Time Warp, with what sounds like overly enthusiastic college acting students making what's already a creepy song about group orgies and such that much creepier, 4 Kidz!
I ... actually want to listen to this.
the tape isn't even green! for fuck sake
I've had one sitting next to my computer for 3 months and I never even thought about that.

That was a very slobbery day in the recording studio.
