Anaxagoras - 2016-02-08
I love it; the couple times the lights go on & you can see the crowd, it looks like it's an even mix of black and white.
I don't care for the actual music that much, but I really dig these guys' vibes.

Old_Zircon - 2016-02-09 Music was a lot less segregated in the 70s than it has been since the 90s.

Anaxagoras - 2016-02-09 When I used to go to raves in the late 90s and 00's, it was usually a nice mix of races.
Proper concerts, on the other hand, were always depressingly monochromatic.

Anaxagoras - 2016-02-09 It's because of who the dominant culture is. Blacks often have to prove to other blacks that they're not just selling out or abandoning their roots or whatever, (I'm not real clear on what it means to "be black enough", but I've read enough stuff to know that it's a thing) plus they also often have to justify their existence to white fans of the music, thanks to either latent racism or talking dog syndrome.
Whites, on the other hand, are the dominant culture. So whether the white hip-hop fan has a deep-rooted appreciation of hip-hop or is simply appropriating the "cool" minority culture thing, a white hip-hop fan usually isn't remarked upon.
I wish I could fall back on my usual "Fuck whites" stance, because seriously, we're the worst. But, well, I have a long history of liking gay music. Like, I really, *really* liked gay music. As in I owned a *lot* of Erasure growing up, and Depeche Mode was mother's milk for me, and I always grooved to disco. So... yeah. I don't really have the right to wag my finger about cultural appropriation.
I will say this in my defense: is it my fault if the gay community made better music? No, no it is not.

Boomer The Dog - 2016-02-10 That's why bands like Parliament-Funkadelic exist, and the Detroit music scene in general is great for crossover, the fusion of styles. Down with segregation!
Mmm, Talking Dog Syndrome, I'll have to look that up..

Boomer The Dog - 2016-02-10 Heh, for me it says "Blop! Please update your browser or try a different one'. Well that can't be right, this is Firefox and it just updated to the latest version yesterday, so forget those guys.
There's lots of EWF out there, even look for them doing 'Got To Get You Into My Life' from the Sgt. Pepper movie soundtrack.

Earth Wind and Fire is out of sight. If you haven't listened to Earth Wind and Fire's Greatest Hits album, prepare to awaken psychedelic spiritual funk parts deep inside.
If you don't feel the groove, all is not lost. You don't have to be a square forever. Take a deep breath.
Every man has a place, in his heart there's a space,
And the world can't erase his fantasies
Take a ride in the sky, on our ship fantasy
All your dreams will come true, right away
